Update to this; I have since moved from the USBC ethernet adapter to a dedicated Wifi Access point on the desk, with its onw SSD that only it connects to. This keeps the bitrate at full speed, but also removes any messing around turning the wi-fi off and on for connection. I would greatly recommend ...
