X-Plane 11 is now on BETA6, and it's looking good.

Here with some add-on :

Miki,

I am a bit disappointed with the scenery ‘out the box’ on X Plane 11. It kinda looks alright but nothing is very accurate, even the occasional town is missing. But your pics are amazing, what are you using?

Malt

PS, I love the warning on the side of the 'island' on the ac carrier 'BEWARE OF JET BLAST, PROPERLLERS AND ROTORS'. It's a flipping aircraft carrier!

Here we go.

First I've read that autogen in X-Plane 1 is quit good, and I'm happy of what I've seen so far. With 6 years old PC, I need to get the objects number down, and so, some are missing, may be it's the same for you ?

In my screen I'm using some sat pictures.
The main site to find them is zonephoto : http://zonephoto.x-plane.fr/Cartes.php (zoom level 16 - good for medium to high level flight)

My last screens were made using some photoreal sceneries coming from A Sky Story : http://askystory.fr/ Those use a zoom level of 17 - good for low level, but increase in a drastic way the amount of Go on your HD...

Note that all those photoreal sceneries come with their own mesh, so it's not compatible with other mesh add-on you can find.

Above this ground depiction layer, I'm using an autogen based on OSM (Open Street Map). So if the area you are flying is covered by OSM, you will find a house / building and road at the exact place it should be (regarding of course the level of object you can have)

Main place for that is here : http://simheaven.com/?page_id=3260 (W2xp Europe in the above screens)

So basically, you put a ground layer of sat pictures including its own mesh, and then, above an OSM scenery layer, and you're good.

Be aware that you need to look after your scenery_packs.ini file (here : ...X-Plane 11/Custom Scenery), IOT have everything setup in a good order.

Order is :
Airfield,
Libraries,
Photoreal sceneries.

As soon as I add a new scenery, I launch X-Plane and leave it. The game will automatically add the new scenery. After that I check and edit the scenery_packs.ini to get the new entry at the good place. If for example you have you satellite scenery above the OSM, you'll find an empty place...

Here is my ini :

Wow! I need a little time to get my head around that lot. Thanks for the detail, I will go through it and have a play with it. Not sure when but it needs doing. My FSX has quite a few addons so currently looks as good as XP11 out the box in many ways but clearly XP11 has far more scope for improvement.

Thanks Miki

I'll give XP11 a go with the next paycheck if nothing else comes in the way. XEnviro seems the weather app to go for, but that might need to wait for another paycheck.
And then I need to have a look at sceneries. The links Miki provided do not cover Norway and Sweden, sadly enough. So I'll need to search a bit more and fly from Copenhagen for the time being.
Lots of work ahead ...

Got the sim 2 days ago. http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/forum/v ... =44&t=7843
Miki`s pictures are looking all right. Gotta look into those scenery packs.
Once all is set up and those who got it have some hours, a fly-in somewhere in Scandinavia or France might be fun.
