beside it all, i know its been our first time together and the overall performance of the server and the pilots was encouraging!
i am positive we can sort this chicken sh** out and be all on the same page!
keep at it, gentlemen! saturday is our next chance! :lecture: :lecture: :lecture:

ATO from SATURDAY, 02/25/2017
KOREAN ToO, OP TIGER SPIRIT, DAY 2 - 0830AM
PILOTS: FREDERF, SHARPE, FALCON, SKYVI, COUGAR
SCREENS: http://aircombatgroup.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 21#p103821

SITUATION:
last night and under the cover of darkness our ground forces pushed north of the DMZ into north korean territory and moved the frontline about 10km. the enemy has been busy this morning sending IL-28 ground attack aircraft to attrit our ground forces and preventing them from establishing a perimeter. INTEL reports that the majority of these CAS missions are coming out of WONSAN AB where serveral IL-28 SQs along with MIG-23 and MIG-29 SQs are based. AIR COMMAND wants the base shut down to strike a significant blow to the enemies air power.

ATO:
2 x F-15E229 ( COUGAR & AI) - OCA STRIKE WONSAN AB
2 x F-16 CM 52 (FALCON & SKYVI) - ESCORT
2 x F-16 CM 52 (FREDERF & SHARPE) - SEAD (ESCORT)

RESULTS:
WONSAN AB was reduced to 0% OP status, despite heavy enemy resistance in the air. 2 planes were lost, 1 damaged. the package accumulated 17(!) AA-kills.

CONCLUSION:
much more coordinated session. improvements were obvious. no technical difficulties throughout. A+!

SEAD and escort flights were the other way around. The one change I estimate would have completely changed the outcome is planning the package spacing and order like so:

SEAD (20nm) Escort (20nm) Strike

The SEAD flight with 4 radar, 0 heat would deliver the first BVR impact preserving their AG load and just as they were coming off the follow up escort would have a clear avenue of fire. The escort could follow up with a similar volley and either turn off to set up a grinder with SEAD or continued to the merge. Strike would keep a safe distance until clear or to provide disengagement fires on abort. Spacing in the form of time-calculated DTOSs allows this.

There was a lot of red air before the target. It would take nearly every missile we carried (or more) to shoot down everything flying. An efficient use of weapons is needed with a marginal force such as ours. If shooting down half of a 4-ship makes the rest of them go home then it's better to let two go and have missiles for another threat. Definitely a skill to drill, shooting and avoiding closure both as a single element and in concert with other elements. This flight was made difficult by the short detection range. Switch and radio time to shoot and avoid inside 10nm was tight. Having all package elements practically on top of each other without planning about turning away affected my judgement about keeping distance. Is wingman going to separate with me? Is strike going to plow through into unsafe airspace?

In summary:
1. Plan package spacing and order
2. Execute non-committing attacks (grinder)
3. Evaluate threat level and commit to merge if necessary toward target

Fixed it ^ for you :moo:

In all seriousness I think the flight went quite well, all things considered. But yes, a little bit of spacing might well have made all the difference.

might have helped indeed...

and yes, i did fly into unsafe airspace to drop my ordonance because i felt the enemy was busy chasing you and i was unaccounted for. these minutes i used for turning towards the target and dropping the ordonance. you guys were sort of like the fullback on this one... ;)
communication turned out to be difficult since my radio was knocked out by the AA-7 that hit me earlier.

but spacing the flight more with clear orders when to do what might have prevented this wild furball. will be included into briefings from now on!

TACVIEW provided good data on this engagement. the 23s were there all the time, flying somewhat perpendicular to us. only as they commited, we noticed they were there because of the rwr signal. two mig 29 to the east entering the fight after an engagement with 2 f-4s sprung the trap...

tough one...

Hey fellas- just wanted to chime in here after the mission thursday.

I want great getting a taste of BMS after being away from it from some time. I was really impressed with the professionality, which is, I'm a afraid, quite a few steps above my own. Coming back, rusty as hell, off to a night ops, trying to remember where the buttons are while dodging 29's:D

Anyways- I enjoy that first part, and I'll gladly join some other time. Perhaps with a ever so slighty easier mission;)

ATO from 03/30/2017
KOREA ToO, SEOUL AREA
PILOTS: FREDERF, REDEYE, SKYVI, COUGAR
MISSION: DESTROY GROUND TARGETS IN THE SEOUL AREA

RESULT: NONE. ALL PLANES WERE SHOT DOWN

CONCLUSION:
Tough one again, three Planes being destroyed within a minute. Darkness was a factor for sure, the 29s did a good Job masking low and shooting up at us, dictating the Engagement completely. More bvr Training is needed as well as WVR Training...

ATO from 04/04/2017
KOREA ToO, OP TIGER SPIRIT DAY 2 ~ 1600hrs, KOKSAN AREA
PILOTS: FALCON, SHARPE, GEORDIE, SECU, COUGAR
SCREENS: http://aircombatgroup.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 97#p104497

SITREP DAY 2, 1600hrs
special forces elements have conducted an operation that lead to the seizure of KOKSAN AB, about 15km deep in enemy territory. the enemy responded by tasking a somewhat closeby stationed artillery batallion to move into a favourible position and open fire on the dug in special forces. after their forced retreat the airbase was to be taken back in order to continue air operations in this area (MIG-21, MIG-29, SU-25).

MISSION
AIR COMMAND tasked 35th SQ(F-16CM52) and 410th SQ(F-15E229), along with 201st SQ(F-5E) with quick reaction alert (QRA) duties in the close air support role. preventing the 4th arty corps batallion to pound the special forces hereby has the utmost priority.
Image

RESULT
201st SQ (4x F-5E - 5x CBU87), due to their close to the front location, arrived in the target area first. the package accumulated 40 AG kills and reduced the enemies operational status to 2%.
Image

410th SQ (1x F-15E229 - 12 CBU 87, 2x GBU12, 1x GBU32v3) arrived second. 1 AG kill was recorded. Flight was shot down by enemy AAA.
35th SQ (4x F-26CM52 - 12x MK-20D, 1x 370l CTLT) arrived last. no AG kills were recorded. 2 AC landed at SEOSAN AB (alternate). 1 AC crashed due to fuel starvation. 1 AC is status unknown.
Image

CONCLUSION
largely through the effort of 201st SQ the special forces in the area remained unharmed and continue to bring enemy installations under their control. JSTAR replay confirmes that enemy ground forces in the region are currently retreating north opening the gate for friendly ground support units to extend the main supply route (MSR). supplying the frontline forces and fortifying their strongholds will be the main task for the next 24-48hrs.

MY TAKE
- entering cockpit within the 20min RAMP time can cause problems loadoutwise
- QRA missions are very demanding
- "looking for" ground targets proved difficult (loadout issues, no TGP)
- fuel management! (loadout issue, CNTLT instead of WNGT)
- radio discipline!!! overlay sounds!

Enjoyed the mission, shame I had to bail out due to fuel and didn't get the chance to drop any bombs. (Mostly my own fault though, I need more training)

In regards to fuel can we set up some air to air refueling training sessions as well.
