Tamiya 1/35 Pz IV Ausf D

Post by ArcEye » Mon Sep 19, 2022 2:52 pm

Fancied doing something different to Planes and found this kit from 1975 molds on Amazon for £15.
First ever attempt at armor, had no correct colors so mixed my own Panzer grey from Rlm 66 with a bit of Rlm 76 in to give it a slightly bluer tint.
Wasn't going to spend to long on it but after getting into the weathering it's probably taken me about 40 hours in total.

Most paints used were Vallejo, With Ammo washes, Tamiya clear coats, Ak rust deposits and Vallejo effects European mud.

WOW does that model bring back old memories. 1975 seems about right for when I put it together. Although nowhere near as beautiful as you achieved.

Great job on that Panzer IV. I remember all of the excitement when this kit was released by Tamiya back in the seventies. It was their first big german tank kit. Everyone wanted to build one because the details of the kit were far superior to anything else on the market. I bought mine at the Squadron Shop in Chicago. I never got around to building it and just added it to my stash of over 500 kits.

Cheers Gents and yes Reggie the detail and fit was excellent for such old molds.

Was great to build and gave me alot of scope to try new techniques.

Love the weathering. That is always one of the best parts of making armor models in my opinion.
