ACG Meet Up - Cosford Air Show 2017

Postby Broadsword » Sun Jun 18, 2017 6:20 pm

So, last Sunday we had a mini-meetup at the Cosford Air Show. Turns out I didn't really take any pictures of the guys (Pariah, Bunny, Bully and myself with special guests Bully's brother (Kupsised), Bully's brother's wife, Bunny's kid, Bunny's mate, and Bunny's mate's kids) so you'll have to take my word for it, but I did take some pics of the planes and stuff. I had a great time, thanks for the good company everyone :nice:

Image
How cute is that? Hawker planes are best planes!

Image
The existential despair of the Spitfire pilot...

Image
Not easy to get a good pic of the Lightning, but it's a Lightning so it's still cool, right?

Image
"Better keep listening, might be a bit about 'blessed are the big-noses'..."

Image
Despite the heavy crosswind, nobody died.

Image
Some old planes or something.

Image
It wasn't the best weather. Poor light for photos, but some moody clouds helped out.

Image
Ansons definitely look better in civ colours.

Image
"Gentlemen, the King!"

Image
The devil is in the details.

Image
Hoping for better light at Duxford. At least that's my excuse.

Image
Hang on! The one's at the end aren't even real engines!

Image
I like the hot wibbly bits the best. As the actress said the the Bishop ;)

Image
Wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka...

Image
...wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-wocka-BOOOOM!

Image
"Th-th-th-th-th-that's all folks!"

Oh, and since I didn't get any pictures of the ACG group at the air show, here's a picture Mrs. Broadsword took of me one Sunday evening during the campaign. As you can see, Jammy's caricature of me is really rather uncanny

Image
So, who's next for 'pilot-recreations a la Jammy'?
Image
I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

Most amusing Broadsword!

Though I wonder, perhaps you should change your name to "Shortsword" now that the cats out the bag

:D :nice:

It was a great day out - sorry we couldn't stay for the "civilised" coffee after the flying had finished, the soon-to-be illegal immigrants were tired after their trip over from Estonia. Did manage one shot of the 501 guys, (L to R) Pariah, Bully, Bunny, Broadsword.

Then to appease the sister in law, after dragging her to the air show, we had to go and look at some animals a few days later. So here are some pictures of big cats.

And here's a random picture of the moon and a planet (the little white dot).

My turn - though you've pretty seen them all above by now :)

Image
Engrossed in his simpit, Pariah fails to notice Broadsword 'adjusting' his trim.

Image
Without Miki to guide them, 501 attempt to navigate by committee.

Image
Unfortunately for the freshly rescued plastic dummy, the Westland Whirlwind's main rotor blade had refused to spin.

Image
Damned radiators.

Image
Pariah was yet to decide which section to fly with.

Image
Stars = beautiful

Image
Crosses = scary. And they still insist on painting the nose a garish colour!

Image
The Chinook chewing up the laws of gravity.

I had a thoroughly pleasant time, as ever great to meet up with the ne'er do wells of 501 :nice:
