A friend just posted this links on the forum about an interesting project. Made in Slovakia, but it works, surprisingly.

Re: AeroMobil - Flying car
Wow. I saw that other development before, forget the name, but it was awful to fly apparently and all of the light aircraft pilots who tried it were scared off.
I would be very interested in:
1. Performance as a car
2. Time taken to set up that prop
3. spin recovery
Car engines and air engines are very different. Aircraft are low compression built for reliability but at cost of fuel and power so I wouldn't imagine this is much more than a short trip to the local field and fly somewhere. I wouldn't expect there is actually a need for motorway travel at all.
I can see as these things take off.....ahem.....then there will be a wicked rise in the number of air accidents! Software will need to control everything really to protect the pilot/driver from his stupidity. Spin recovery, emergency chute ejection, take off, navigation and landing via GPS. There's no way these things will go really big without this.
