This is a fascinating series of interviews of WW2 pilots telling their stories. It really is a must watch for the likes of us, hence the sticky.

EDIT: Luftasher added to YT too

Adolf Galland sounds like a very down to Earth kind of guy. He always talks plainly, to the point, unafraid to voice an unpopular opinion. Would have been great to sit down and have a beer with him.

I just started watching this series and man, that story related at the end of the first episode by George Chandler really got me. The situation he got himself into really brings the reality of war home to me and especially that many of these pilots were just cocky kids and in an instant, he was dealt one of the harshest life lessons imaginable that obviously haunted him for the rest of his life. Great stuff but sobering as well.

I'm just noticing at 22:20 (roughly) those 2 planes colliding and crashing into the ground. That to me, and airplane crashes in general, is the hardest thing for me to watch. Watching an aircraft smashing into the ground and exploding is a very haunting sight for me...

Remind me, is Macky Steinhoff in this? I think so, only I am reading 'Straights of Messina' right now and keen to hear his account beyond the edited book

OK so he's talking about the defence of the Reich then. Straights of Messina covers a concentrated 6 weeks of his career
