Re: Aircraft documentaries
I don't think I have enough hours left in my life to watch all these documentaries but they look sterling.
Shout out also to Atreides post re Spitfire on the Beeb - Spitfires getting near mach 1.0 that's something I have never heard of before! Very interesting account.

Well I know how I'm spending the rest of my week!
I mean, I had fast motor cars and fast motor bikes, and when I wasn't crashing airplanes, I was crashing motor bikes. It's all part of the game — Sir Harry Broadhurst

Re: Aircraft documentaries
Not exactly a documentary, but lots of lovely colour footage of Canadian aircraft. Emphasis on their Hurricanes and sea of yellow harvards

Re: Aircraft documentaries
As the topic hasn't been explored too far in this part of the forum yet and as I happened to stumble on it last weekend, Wings over Vietnam a 1998 TV documentary mini-series highlights several aircraft types during each episode, revisits well known aspects of the air war over Vietnam from a rather fresh perspective (e.g. constraints and losses during Rolling Thunder) and also sheds light on less well known stories like the "FACs", "Dust Offs" or "Jolly Greens". As an aviation enthusiast you always hope for more technical details of course and wish for a more balanced view with witness accounts from both sides but this series distinguishes itself pretty well from the post 2000 razzle-dazzle "documentaries". I personally was impressed by the Wild Weasel pilots who present themselves really modest during the interviews but in fact bore one of the heaviest burdens during the air attacks on North Vietnam.
Enjoy watching!
