I'm glad that they are looking into it but I didn't saw anything strange.

This was nice 1-2 sec burst, if the rad is modeled too big there should be a lot more hits into it.
I probably have video of this but I'm not shure.
I'm very sceptical about Catseye's findings. Also with De Wilde effectiveness.I'm using them 30% and een if we don't see the flashes,
I ussually see the burning parts of the plane that Im hitting( wingtips, ailerons, tail...).

Its also very easy to hit water rad on Spit with 109e1,just aim at rad.

[BOUNDER EDIT] sorry Vranac - whilst trying to quote your post I've somehow eaten part of it!
Yeah, have to agree Vranac! My eyebrows did raise a bit when I saw this lol. It literally takes 1 bullet from my 109s machine guns to blap the Spits radiator if I aim at it. The main difference is that 109s usually aren't turning so you always get a great view of their radiators and with the convergence pattern from RAF types your always getting hits around the rad when you aim at the 109s backside. The Spitfire's rad on the other hand is usually hidden beneath his wing as he turns so you don't get a chance to shoot at it unless he doesn't see you coming or is foolishly trying to outrun my 109.

Phew.... looks like TF have realised their mistake with their identification of "no hitbox for the Spitfire's radiator".... because, as a number of us stated, there is one & it is properly modeled - to test all you need to do is point your guns at the Spits rad! Seems they misread the file apparently!

On the 109 though, there is more info including some paintbrush diagrams they've made to try and show what the 109 rad hit box is like currently. If that is incorrectly modeled, I hope they get it sorted for the next patch! It seems it wont make much difference to dead six shots but will effect deflection shots (especially from 3/9 o'clock) registering radiator hits.

[EDIT] also from looking at the pics again I would have thought once fixed, it would be harder to hit the 109 rad from below, which will be great.

Good catch Bounder and others - but great that it's making everyone delve as deep as possible to get the accuracy up :)

Yes they were certainly wrong with the Spitfire rads and the 109 rad hitboxes were also of the correct size after all.

As I thought.

Have they confirmed that internally?

Internally and now Buzzsaw published an explanation:

Easily done to be fair, the code and 3d side are a bit confusing to say the least...

Just saw the thread! Oops!!! It is understandable that these things happen when testing but there's going to be some disappointed pilots now for sure (I had some opponents complaining in the chat that I was only killing them 'cos the 109 radiators are f@@ked - TF will sort it out, then you're in trouble, just you wait' :) ). It had sparked a debate and I'm sure this isn't the last we've heard about the radiators in CLoD!

The 109 is particularly vulnerable to radiator hits because of the way it is flown, always exposing the two whacking great big targets affixed to it's backside. Perhaps part of the problem isn't the hitbox but that it only requires a couple of bullets to rupture the radiator?
