Re: Flying A-20
But the real question is how many of them can we get into a single formation
Turn like the devil, shoot straight from the sun
Climb like a monkey out of hell where I belong
Re: Flying the A-20
So the A-20 is fucking hilarious. I've shot down two 109s in it now. The first went into a loop, I simply followed him through it and chewed his ass off with the .50s. The second I chased down, and when he started trying to turn and loop with me I could stay on his six almost effortlessly. He panicked and that was the end of him.

I hardly dare ask, but is that, erm, accurate?
I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

I haven't the foggiest, honestly. I would suspect not, but aircraft like the Lockheed Hudson do exist and were pretty absurdly nimble for what they were, so I don't know.

Re: Flying the A-20
By mid-1943 Soviet pilots were very familiar with the A-20B and A-20C. The general opinion was that the aircraft was overpowered and therefore fast and agile. It could make steep turns of up to 65° angle, while the tricycle landing gear made for easier take-offs and landings. The type could be flown even by crews with minimal training. The engines were reliable but sensitive to low temperatures, so the Soviet engineers developed special covers for keeping propeller hubs from freezing up.Broadsword wrote:I hardly dare ask, but is that, erm, accurate?
Basically, yes. Though you won't be doing that loaded down with external ordinance. Since the sides on wings of potato have been so imbalanced with FOTM players so I've been doing german 100% of the time, the bomblight in the tail is great for helping to spot them when they're on their attack runs. Also, from listening in to conversations about people flying it, apparently the wings tend to come off if you pull too much G's. So if you make a high speed diving attack and try to pull out of it, you won't shed controls but after you start pulling the wings may snap.

Sounds like some inexperienced players then.LuftAsher wrote:Nope, players.
