DCSW 1.2.6 and Freetrack / FaceTrackNoIR

Post by Gromic » Fri Sep 13, 2013 7:30 am

The Update of DCSWorld (Version 1.2.6) has killed Freetrack (and FaceTrackNoIR) functionality for anyone using those Natural Point alternatives. Seems the monopolistic, highway robbery, foaming at the mouth capitalistic demons at NP are bending arms at ED - as they have with many a game in the past. Thankfully, there is a community that reacts when needed.

After three frustrating hours and lots of research I finally got it working. This is the original thread on the ED forums. Thanks to all those involved.

Installation Overview:

First, download this http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?a ... ntid=53102
Unpack it somewhere where you can access it again. Within the depths of the unpacked zip, you should find two files: "headtracker.dll" and "headtracker.prefs".
Open up your ...\DCS World\bin folder and create a subfolder called "headtracker". Copy the unpacked two files into the newly created directory.
Copy (again) the "headtracker.dll" into the parent folder ie. ...\DCS World\bin overwriting any "headtracker.dll" that you may already have there.

You should now have:

...\DCS World\bin\headtracker.dll
...\DCS World\bin\headtracker\headtracker.dll
...\DCS World\bin\headtracker\headtracker.prefs

Start DCSW and go into the options menu. Click on the Axis mapping Group with the options controls. You should now see a column called Headtracker.
AFAIK you cannot change sensitivity settings for Freetrack / FaceTrackNoIR with the ingame GUI. This will most likely have to be done within the prefs file. We'll see.

Time to deploy the anti-trust lawsuit against NP.
