I interrupted the take-off flow of 5 staffel by jumping the line with Green flight, and partially blocking a member of Blue flight at the runway. I mistakenly thought I saw all planes of Blue flight forming for takeoff, and only realized my mistake too late after the mission brief, in speaking with Stig. Not a good start., but Green flight finally got up, and formed up while on the way to Calais Marck to rendezvous the the staffel. I never saw the bombers, so we headed across towards Dover, but drifted north of the city, and had to turn south. It was really a mess with me in charge today. I think I even screwed up my whispers. I guess even Tommie heard me! I deliberately separated myself from Green flight, dropping down to see if I could spot any contacts. It was very impromptu, and ineffective. Bad tactics. In climbing back up I was totally separated, and hearing Lee under attack, and declaring friendly fire. I became engaged with a Spit, and got into a rolling scissors that went both vertical and horizontal. I broke away, dove and tried to separate. I thought I was clear until tracers ripped past my cockpit. he next few seconds had me flying through a shower of lead, with hit splashes dancing all around my plane. The next burst caused a some minor damage as I forced my plane lower and lower over the water, coaxing as much speed as I could while keeping an eye on the altimeter. I was flying in a south-easterly direction with occasional water sprites continuing to dance as the enemy's fire missed my plane. After a few seconds the firing stopped. I waited a bit longer, then executed a sharp climbing turn while trying to locate the bandit. I saw it low over the water as i came over the top, and dropped in behind it. It began a climbing left turn as I pulled lead on it. I was about to fire when my screen turned red and I heard the impacts of enemy fire. I'd been dragged! Everything went black, and I was totally bagged. A fitting end for having spent most of the mission with my head up my ass (and blocking my view)
Flyby out.

Took off leading Blau schwarm with Salsam, StaryMruk and Grizzly after some delay due to confusion forming up on the runway. I respectfully suggest that we return to numbering our schwarms as I fear that some of our otherwise admirable pilots may be colour blind :)
We were jumped mid channel over the Stukas by RAF fighters and I was soon on my way back to France with perforated rads. The engine seized in sight of the coast, but I had enough altitude to glide in, crashlanding at Peupl... well some airfield thats impossible to pronounce or spell.

Chumleigh mate you're being very unlucky indeed. The RAF pilot who collided with you was Teepee from No.501. He did apologise to you in the chatline just after you left the server. He had to bail out from his Hurricane right away and responded to your message that he was sorry, but he was going too fast to avoid the collision.
Actually I am the one who owes an apology to Teepee as my frustrated reaction definitely appeared to be directed at him. It is the fact that virtually every time a hurricane collides with me, my plane is critically damaged or blown to pieces while the hurri ends up with far less damage or none whatsoever.

Collisions happen and I'm sure I cause just as many as anyone else. I've just grown rather weary of the predictable outcome.

Sorry, Teepee.

Thanks Robo and my apologies to Teepee as I am sure you know the real root of my frustration has to do with the outcome of the collision - not that one occurred. It's a part of air combat and I cause as many as as anyone else. I can't imagine any of the ACG boys ramming another AC intentionally and the way I was bouncing that 109 all over the place to avoid bullets, I know I was making it more difficult for the ones firing them to avoid me!

I hope Teepee didn't bail out just to respond to my message! I'm very sorry if he did.

Takeoff and form up went OK. Flying Schwarm 1 with Aurora as lead. Climb out went OK…..Escorted Stukas . Hurricanes spotted attacking Stukas and we dived in. Got hits on a Hurricane. Stayed engaged too long instead of blowing through. Took hits and pilot kill.

Took off with Blau schwarm with Stig, Salsam, and Grizzly. Quickly we found bombers and took our position above and behind them. Schwarm was doing gentle left and right banks in order not to overtake bombers formation. Suddenly I spotted Hurricane on our 9 o'clock pretty close (c.a. 400 metres). I shouted (with little panic in my voice!) to Stig about this close contact and broke towards him. Meanwhile he turned away like he didn't notice me and started to dive on the bombers. I closed my radiator and easly caught him in the dive. I fired two short cannon bursts on him from 250 metres and he broke his attack on the bombers, most probably warned by my bullets hitting his fuseladge (I don't use tracers). I did one or two more firing passes on him but no visiual effect. We both lost a lot of altitude. At that moment I have heard Stig and I think Grizly and Salsam reporting venting radiators and going back to France. I started to climb back to the bombers and suddenly find my self alone among Spitfires (3 or more). I started to dive towards French cost and again easly overrun enemy. They probably were looking more for the bombers then for me. Climb to bombers again. Atreidis order to form up behind second wave of bombers and.... my radiator exploded. It was closed all the time since very first dive after Hurricane.
Very disappointed with my stupidity I made it to the closest runway in France landed.

Victory Claims: 1 Hurricane probably damaged

I was late for the mission because I was again spending my liberty at a 'closed house' club in Marquise. I'm in love with these French girls...they are so enamored with us - the Aryan invaders, that they go to great lengths to make us feel at home, including learning German, putting on performances of their favorite classical music, even dyeing their hair black to provide an exotic contrast to their predominantly blond customers. Here every night of the week is a party night, with alcohol-fuelled orgies dominating social life at a time when the majority of the population has to abide by an 11pm to 5am curfew. I along with several other pilots from JG26, leave our whores early morning - before Sun rise and return to base. Blinded by alcohol, smelling of sex we somehow catch a supply truck that's bringing up the morning eggs and milk. With our uniforms tattered, we crawl into our bunks with only a few hours of sleep before being violently awoken by the duty officer. This particular morning I'm surprised to find myself in my bunk, I don't know how I made it back. BUT, If I could make it back to my Staffel in the terrible condition I was in now, how could I ever get lost over Brittany.
I arrived to my machine on a very hot morning as the Staffel was taking off. I must receive my mission briefing over the radio by Aurora; who was leading 4./ JG26 due to our Staffelkapitans absence. From my drinking, I have to puke several times into my leather flight glove to save my crew-chief the mess. Trying to sling the vomit from my glove outside into the prop-wash, I accidentally kick my rudder causing the aircraft to spin and pulling the left tire off its rim. The pain in my head from all the wine and whisky is felt with every thump of my heartbeat and the maintenance personnel yelling at me because,of this unfortunate mistake doesn't help. In my drunkenly condition, I stumble to the spare aircraft, start its engine and get off the ground with a strong crosswind that would have scared a sober pilot. Once in the air, I go oxygen 100% to help the pain in my head. Getting my senses back, I cut the corner bypassing the rendezvous point flying direct to the bombers target. Seeing the formation quite far ahead, I also spotted enemy aircraft diving down to the rear of the bomber formations. With an altitude advantage, I dived on one Hurricane but missed with a long burst due to my airspeed and deflection. As I climbed back up, multi colored tracers fly past my wind screen - I dived pushing the stick full forward to escape hoping to use the Brits own engine against him. It was the first time I had experienced this in combat. Anyway, what I did was evade whoever was firing at me by nose-diving. Now, I thought, I've got to get into this fight, so I climbed up again trying to catch up with the unit. I remember thinking, 'Well, this isn't so bad...my maneuver had worked...but I was still climbing and suddenly there was a second attack from behind. It was so fast that I couldn't evade before it came . . . Suddenly he was there and immediately I went down again. While I was diving I thought, Well, what do I do now?
Some pilots said that in such a case you just go down to tree-top or sea level and go home . . . but I thought, Well, that sounds too easy, so I decided to climb up again...catching another Hurricane fixated on the rear of a Stuka. I gave him a good burst. He slowly rolled off trailing fluid. I made several gun runs severely damaging his machine even more but this Englander was determined to keep flying. Then as I was climbing again suddenly I was attacked from below to the right-hand side. I 'snap-rolled' to evade. Someone who was more at home playing these games had come from below from the right-hand side. But my luck held with only a small fuel leak in the wing. Over the radio I heard Aurora requesting support from an entanglement with 2-Spitfires heading south, mid-channel, on the deck. He was quite far off so to quickly had to make up distance, I put myself in a steep extended dive and what I noticed was lots of noise and that dam fuel leak off the wing of the plane and what struck me was that the water was approaching very fast. I realized that
image.jpg
I had to catch the plane immediately and get it out of the dive before passing 700KPH. I did and in doing so my blood rushed from my head and I blacked out. When I came to I found I had Aurora and his tormentors in my sights. I was still too far off to help and only had 10 liters of fuel but my speed was still high and I held the altitude advantage. Suddenly, over the French Point, the Spits disengaged turning back north and allowing Aurora to live. 1000K above the Spits, low on fuel, I intercepted the last aircraft. Again, my high speed and with the nature of the defection shot , I missed. But I'm very sure the Englander shit himself and had to contend with his situation all the way back to England. I kept straight and as I became 'feet dry' over the point, my engine began cough from fuel starvation but my machine had speed to 'dead stick.' Choosing Audenbert, I glided in at tree-top level; popping over one ridge of trees to another and soon the field opened in front of me. I must have scared the Hell out of anti aircraft gunners...they didn't see me until they were alerted to the 'thump' of my undercarriage. I settled onto field without incident coming to a peaceful stop. I sat there numb listening to the gyro spin down enjoying the moment. Within the next hour, I had shit, showered and shaved, dressed in a fresh uniform and was tightly holding on to the side of a truck as it sped to downtown Marquis...and my brothel.
