F-15 Tutorials, advice and links

Post by Redeye » Mon Sep 29, 2014 10:00 am

Here is the way I have set up my HOTAS.

It is similar to the real F-15 setup, but not identical. Just what functions best for me. Even though you might have a different setup- you get a general idea of what buttons to have mapped and easily available.

All buttons are used frequently and should be easy to access. Have a look and see if it works for you as well:)

Very handy - I need to rejig my setup as somehow it just doesn't work, so I'll give something like this a go...
Image
I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

Cheers Redeye, always good to see how others are setup. I have it mapped slightly differently but I think I have all the same things covered. I'll check when I get home tonight just to be sure.

Feel free to post anything tutorial/links/tactics/videos and anything else we can learn from in this thread.

I am going to compile at mission training package and upload it for you guys. Missions will include

1. Landing (Good/Bad/Night) visibility
2. DACT (Dissimilar Air Combat Training. A series of head on missions with your versus various types and number of enemies. Essential for dogfight and missile defending.)
4. Aerial refuling (Day, night)
5. AWACS training. (Spawn in with numerous contacts- some near, some far, and decipher the AWACS.

I spent 8-10 runs against a Mig-31 which has a weapons range of 50+ miles... hard as fuck, but God it did feel good taking him down in the end.

I do- that is- its set in DCS- so not all the buttons work as I would like. (I have to double flip som- if you know what I mean. Its not made with TARGET- as I had some trouble with that for starters. I can send you my DCS profile if that is helpful (or possible?)

Radar tutorials.
Extremely helpful, even if somewhat long. Comes in three parts and explains everything with nice practical examples.
Put on a can of coffey and take notes;)

Watch a little- try a little in QMB- then return and watch some more later:)

Something to aspire to in terms of formation flying. Quite a long video but very impressive.
