Not needed. You can make one in VR and be in it.

Definitely need to look at getting another 980ti to sli though, upscaling the resolution certainly takes its toll

I'd hang fire on SLI - I could never get it to work with VR in anything so i traded in my twin 970s for a 1080... It may be supported better now, i stopped keeping up to date, but it wasn't worth it even just 6 months ago.

get a 1080 if you want to vr Sli is still a very niche thing and most games out dont take advantage of a second card
