Its a model of sorts...

Post by Grunt » Sat Apr 06, 2019 12:14 am

Finally decided to get off my ass and clean up the Russian capture K98 I purchased about 4 years ago. It was covered in shellac and cosmoline so I wanted to restore it back to it's former condition. I have never tried this before and I'm very happy how it turned out.

This was the original condition

Wow.....Top Job there Grunt, the wood grain is far more evident now,and the whole effort was worth it,was'nt it ?....it looks superb mate, hats off to ya.

If you could find an original strap, that would be the icing on the cake.

I can tell what that walnut (?) feels like. Top job.
You should make a short video where you run the action to show us what it sounds like, cause I'd imagine it's bolt-action ASMR.

Wow! That looks amazing, I have a Russian Capture as well and this is tempting me to touch up the stock on mine. I'm lucky too that mine wasn't peened to have the eagles removed :moo:

I was also fortunate to retain the original marks but mine aren't nearly as crisp as yours. If you clean up that stock you would have a good looking rifle!
