Re: Me 109-G6 1/48
I understand, I am looking forward for this one, the newer Eduard kits are apparently very nice to build. I dropped you a message yesterday with a few questions regarding not the actual build but rather certain techniques and colours used (your RLM 74/75/76 is just spot on). I also like the realistic look as the model is not a display case of all available techniques. This is often the case and although I personally appreciate the great skill and wide variety of techniqes of many great builders, in terms of final effect or look this is contraproductive. The exaggerated tic tac toe pre-shading or panel lines accentuated too much. With your work this is not the case, I really love it.
So my question is reagrding the colours you prefer (tamiya acrylics and Gunze C for me + now AK Interactive Arir series).
Then the superb finish, especially dust pigments on the wing surface.
And of course chipping techique on the wing roots and propeller. Just superb.
Thank you, you rock
Re: Me 109-G6 1/48
Gunze !, Tamya when I can't have Gunze with alchool as thinner. Sometime Vallejo air or MIg, with Tamya X20-A thinner, but they are tricky to use as I like.is reagrding the colours you prefer
I mainly paint with a gey basecoat, preshading dark color (black, brown...) and prelightning but not each time.
I like to use verry diluted paint (70, 80 %) in thin layers, the goal is to nearly make the preshading disapear. You may spray your paint randomly, to have different thickeness and thus different shades.
First paint metal, then aplly maskol with a sponge, or thin foam, and remove the maskol at the end just before starting the last weathering process with artist oils, pigments and so on..chipping techique on the wing roots
For the propeller is the same but with dark grey instead of metal,

Re: Me 109-G6 1/48
Cześć Onebad. I am not sure I can. I am definitely lurking here as I miss flying.
Secu I also work with Tamiya and Gunze. Do you mean the C or H range? Are the RLM colours you used on the Dora or on this 109 straight from Gunze or do you have some own mixes. I like these a lot.
Same here with thin layers.
I also paint metal (Gunze 8) which is really resilient. Then I can scratch the top layer with a toothpick. I don't have perfect control though so maskol method might be better. I am also tempted to use the MiG chipping fluid.
So pretty much very similar, it's just you are much better at it
