Eduard 1/48 Bf 109 G-6 Late (G-14)

Post by Dubsy » Sun Dec 19, 2021 3:47 am

Did this very nice Eduard kit up as one of 9./'s G-14s, cheers to Blondi for the use of his paint scheme.
Moulding detail was brilliant and unfortunately I didn't quite do it justice with the paining, but that's life. I think my brushwork is at least improving as regards picking up rivets etc. My RLM colour mixing was also somewhat questionable, but in my defence, so was the latewar Luftwaffe's.
Finally, the perennial issue, chipping. This time, to save on my silver and keep the number of layers down, I used a sharp metal thingy to sort of scrape paint on, instead of doing a base coat. Came out decently, from some angles at least, but I should have gone with more and smaller chips.
Overall I'm satisfied with the result, however there are places to improve.

Anyway, without further rambling.

As a bit of an addendum, I've come into the ownership of F4F and SBD kits. Anyone got any nominations for the carrier airgroup I should do? Leaning towards a 42 option at the moment.

Hey, it's me! :D

Highly recommend AK's RLM line, as well as Abtielung 502 oils for weathering.

Nice effort Dubsy I think the chipping looks pretty good it's something I still struggle with.

Personally I like Hataka blue line for brush painting RLM schemes. I haven't tried the AK ones Blondi recommends though.
