Re: Wargaming miniatures, anyone?
Hi
Generally in summer I don't build models, I rather paint figures, because except the assembly phase, when you start the brush work you can do it only for 10 to 20 mn if you want and come back later.
Like everybody I have better things to do when the weather is hot and sunny.
So this is my last months work, a Viking warband for the game SAGA, I have a tournament, the first for me with these rules, in September.

Those look amazing! I love minis to bits. I really want to find a minis group in my area.
Re: Wargaming miniatures, anyone?
It's been a while since I posted anything in here, but I thought I'd show off a couple of my recent projects. First up is a company worth of US Airborne circa D-Day which I painted and put together in anticipation of Post Scriptum Chapter III. Like my other efforts in this thread, these are based for use in the game Crossfire.
This is all the different kinds of stands I put together. They form a larger set but the bulk of the company is made up of repeats of the four stands you see in the rear.
A platoon armed with M1 Garands, Thompsons, Grease Guns, M1 Carbines and BARs.
HMG squad armed with the Browning M1919.
vERY anGrY PLatoON comMAndER MoViNG aT INcredIBle hIHG SpEeD.
This bazooka has not yet been unlocked as a playable character.
Forward Observer team for artillery, mortars, etc. Here you can see the oldschool Airfix figures creeping into what was mostly a Caesar Miniatures setup.
60mm mortar team. Guy without a face on the right is another Airfix offering.
Company Commander accompanied by a radioman, both armed with M1 Carbines.
The whole company. Caesar Miniatures provided the bulk of it, with some figures from Revell and Airfix filling in gaps where needed.
Very happy with how these ones turned out, especially now that I've shifted from using hand-cut card bases with hand-written labels to using laser-cut MDF which overall looks much more uniform and tasteful.
I have another company from out east to show off, will post them when I get a chance to take some decent pictures.

Excellent paint jobs. I used to do 15mm Napoleonics back in the day. Lately, I'm playing ARMA 3 World War 2. I'm raising a US Army Tank unit.

I promised to show off some guys from out east earlier this year, I figured it's time to deliver.
I actually finished these guys before I even started the US Airborne I showed off earlier in this thread, but never got around to taking pictures of them until now.
I present to you a company of the Imperial Japanese Army:
A lot of what I loved about working on these guys encapsulated on one stand. This is the company commander, accompanied by a bugler and a guy with the honour of hoisting the Rising Sun over the battlefield.
The three rifle platoons that make up this company. I ended up allocating figures to each base much more randomly with this company compared to my previous efforts.
The platoon-level support elements of the company: Three knee mortars, two anti-tank rifle squads, one HMG team, two snipers and two anti-tank 'specialists'.
1st Platoon.
1st Platoon's leader and accompanying bugler.
1st Platoon showing off their various small arms; Arisakas and a Type 99 LMG. Also note the presence of a knee mortar for each platoon.
A 2nd Platoon squad with rifle grenadier and Type 96 LMG.
Things like the luck flag on the central man's rifle really add a lot of colour and character to this company.
3rd Platoon - More Arisakas and what I think is another Type 99.
Another example of the unique little touches of character I was able to work into this company with the very honourable man leading the bayonet charge at the front.
Anti-tank rifle team packing the Type 97 AT Rifle. One guy fires while another tops him off with additional 20mm ammunition feeding from top-mounted magazines.
Heavy Machine Gun Team operating the Type 92 HMG, based on the old Hotchkiss design.
Company/Battalion-level fire support.
Mortar team operating the Type 97 81mm mortar.
Mortar team operating the Type 96 150mm mortar. Really like these figures, especially the guy lugging the ammo around.
A crew operating a Type 92 70mm Battalion Gun. As the name suggests, two of these were usually assigned to a battalion.
A forward observer team equipped with scissors scope and field phone.
A pair of Arisaka-wielding snipers.
Two brave anti-tank 'specialists' wielding the Lunge Mine or Honour Stick - Literally just a shaped-charge warhead on a fucking stick.
--
I had a lot of fun making these guys. Between the distinct equipment (katanas, bugles, flags, honour sticks, etc.), unique bits of apparel (luck flags and bandanas) and numerous and varying fire support options, it's probably the most diverse company I'll ever make. It's also made up of figures from (as far as I can tell) four or five different makers, including Airfix, Esci/Italeri and Strelets.
I also went to a fair bit of effort to make the bases look overgrown and jungly (not to mention some of the guys themselves), and couldn't be happier with the result.
Well that's the lot, thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

Outstanding work as usual, the snipers in particular.
