My No.501 ACG Hurricane - Thank You Tex!!!
I collected a parcel from the post office today... a delivery from the good old U.S of A. I knew what it was going to be but I can't say how emotionally touched I am by this incredible deed of fellow 501 pilot Tex.
Opening the box and first clapping eyes on the personal message and attention to detail I actually did feel a slight watering of my eyes. I'm getting really soft in my middle years. Any TV programme showing people helping each other out or doing nice things for each can bring a lumpt to my throat.
It was perfectly packed and with just a small bag of pieces to add myself - the propeller, canopy, rudder and aerial mast. As a fellow modeller (but nowhere near Tex's standards) I fortunately had the right glue to hand. So here it is in completed state.
The attention to detail at this scale (1:48) is amazing. You can't see from the pictures but the cockpit is fully kitted out and the seat even has straps.
He's even got my felix cat logo on the emergency door - right where it should be!
Thank you so much mate. I've no idea how you managed this. It really is a beautiful piece of work and will take pride of place in my home. We really must all get together when you come over to the UK. We all need to sit in a pub, ply you with ale and get bladdered.
to you

and cheers!

Crackin' stuff Tex
I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

Well, knowing that Tex probably can't make Duxford but is coming down for the next weekend, I've booked the week off work so that I'm free for whatever might happenBonkin wrote:We really must all get together when you come over to the UK.
