I just noticed that Flying Circus is now on sale... 50% off.

It's still $39.99 though, could be tight for some people.

True, and if one waits long enough, it could be half of that. But I will say that you will get more than $39.99 in enjoyment out of it. And to be fair, the developers need to make it worth their effort.
I haven't tried RoF, so I can't compare it, but I love FC. The dogfights are close and the aerobatics are not only tons of fun, but I think will improve one's flying ability on the other sims.
All FC needs now are more pilots and a few good campaigns, and I know a lot of people will be hooked.
