Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator - How to

Post by Pariah » Sat Oct 28, 2017 2:23 pm

Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator is a great Campaign Generator program for those of us that don't like the in built campaign. With it you can fly alongside the aces of the day and also, if you download the skin packs, they will fly in aeroplanes painted in their colours.

http://www.pwcampaignmanager.com/pwcg/web/PWCGRoF.php

You can download the program from the website above. Once downloaded follow these instructions:

Install:
1. Unzip PWCG to your RoF home folder - very important that it be in the home folder.
2. Make sure Java is installed on your computer and for the correct operating system, i.e. there is a 64 bit version.
3. Make sure that you have the latest Java.
4. Make sure that mission logging is enabled:
- Open ...\<Game install dir>\data\Startup.cfg
- Find mission_text_log
- Set mission_text_log = 1

5. Start PWCG (double click PWCGRoF.exe - advisable to run as administrator if RoF is installed into C:\Program Files)
6. Select airplanes that you own (should be only option if it hasn't already been done).
7. Go to simple config and select air and ground activity levels.
- I use Med for both. High on air levels brings in lot's of enemy aircraft.

How to set the career to co-op

Go to Configuration on the main PWGC page
Select User Preferences
Set use Coop to 1. Default is 0.

This will set the career to a multiplayer career, it will be visible under Cooperative under the Multiplayer options.

How to set the career to no death.

Go to Advanced Configuration
Campaign Preferences
Select Max Pilot Injury
Set this to 1. Default is 3.

Then if the player dies the campaign will show no injury and then it will generate the next mission when asked. We could in theory generate missions through the whole life of the squadron through WWI

We also need to make the career a Co-op career so that it's a multiplayer career.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I couldn't get the missions created with PWCG to appear in the Mission tab in-game. :?

I'm not sure what could be causing the issue. Is it unpacking into a folder called PWCGCampaign in the route of the RoF folder? If you don't have admin rights you'll need to also run the .exe as admin.

How to guide updated to include creating a Co-op career and stopping the campaign grinding to a halt on the character's death.

Worth a note:

I've done a few tests now with PWCG and it doesn't do Escort sorties very well. You fly over the airfields where bombers should spawn. It'll then not spawn them.

My suggestion for now is to select 'Scrub Mission' if it tries to give you an Escort sortie.

PWCG is now updated to V3 but do not upgrade. It doesn’t seem to create missions. It’s also not compatible with previous campaigns so we’ll just run with 2.1.2 for the moment. Watch this space for news.....

Glad you warned me...

I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.
