Mission Date: 10-06-16
Time: 16:00

A patrol along the eastern side of the front along enemy territory. We put paid to a balloon and it is Jammy's first claim. We then encountered some Eindeckers to the east of Dixmude. Nev, Broadsword and Bunny are claiming one each.

We made it back but had lost Bully to archie.

Mission flown by Bunny, Broadsword, Pariah, Nev, Jammy, Bully and Secu.

This time we were a flight of four in Pariah, Nev, Broadsword and Jammy. We took off on an intercept mission and found the enemy heading west deep into our territory. There were several thousand feet above us and seemingly climbing further. We climbed up to the heady heights of 8,000 feet and they were still above us and turning back east. We kept following but they dove for home and we lost sight. One can only assume that they were on a recon mission.

No claims to be made at this time.

Mission Date: 13-06-16
Time:

A flight north to attempt to intercept enemy bombers. Again we found them but on seeing the mighty 29 they fled east. We gave chase but were unable to catch them.

Before we turned back poor old 2nd Lt Hubert 'Nev' Barrett bought it. Damn archie got him. We turned back after and made it back safely. On landing I collided with some fuel drums that some damned fool and parked in the middle of the landing area and shortly before I watched Emmett 'Bully' Oliver drop from the sky. He survived the crash and reported that he had got light headed and lost control. We've given him the requisite tot of rum and he seems recovered.

Our mission was to penetrate deep into enemy territory. Captain Darling led his band of merry men into the fight.

Before they'd got over enemy lines though they were bounced by four pesky Eindeckers. They flew in behind them out of the sun. Jammy called them out and No.29 squadron turned into the fray.

After a short and tense battle. Captain 'Pariah' Darling had claimed a kill but died as he collided with his target. 29 really need to get better Captains to lead them. Jammy and Bunny also claimed one a piece. The fourth one had met his end when tried to merge with his wingman.

New boy Eaton 'Nev' Engleford was also flying today.

This was another deep patrol mission into enemy territory. Word must have reached the powers that be that 29 are a feisty bunch and they are best deep in the thick of it.

New Captain Robert 'Pariah' Chandler led the boys out in the mid afternoon sun. The wind was a bit gusty once you were above 100 feet.

This mission had 29 squadron on the bosch side of the lines for longer but the cowardly hun stayed out of the way. A balloon was the order of the day and it was Bunny that got the kill in the end. Not before new Captain Chandler nearly collided with the thing. Memo sent to head office to check the current state of Captains' training.

Highlight of the mission was when, after landing, Bully was playing about with his service revolver. The damn thing went off and nicked Broadsword on the shoulder. He slumped over to good effect and Bully pretty much shit himself that he'd killed the ace. Imagine his surprise when on going over to the DH2 cockpit of 29's top pilot he sat up and just smiled back at him.

Mission Date: 16-06-16
Time: TBA

Seven pilots of 29 squadron were dispatched to intercept some enemy bombers. The enemy bombers were found but despite the best efforts of the Airco DH2 they could not be caught.

On this his 15th mission, 2nd Lt Quenby 'Broadsword' Yelverton met his end. He was flying too close in formation to Bunny and some inattentiveness, most unlike the ace pilot, they collided. 2nd Lt Elias 'Bunny' Parsons flew on undamaged whilst Broadsword spiralled down to his doom.

Yet again I have to report that a captain of 29, Robert 'Pariah' Chandler, has died whilst attacking an enemy balloon. Not from ground fire, who from any action by the dirigible but by his own stupidity. Flying too close the airman caught the ropes tying the craft to the ground. This damaged his wings and from 4,000 feet he was never making it to the ground unscathed.

Jammy claims the balloon.

This action was flown by Pariah, Jammy, Broadsword and Nev.

Quenby Yelverton died in the first sortie, not the second. Hence his ghost informing you of the superfast Boche bombers :nice:

I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

Ahh, I racked my brains trying to work out when it happened. I shall amend the AAR.
