Help needed

Post by Matt » Sun Nov 01, 2020 5:57 pm

Evening , I need help as I’m looking to update My gaming Pc,

I’ve currently got a 980 graphic card with an I7 3820 @4.3ghz and a gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 motherboard

I’m looking at getting nivida 3080, can anyone recommend a decent processor and motherboard that would be compared with the 3080

Thanks In advance

Well you'd be looking at an i7 Comet Lake CPU ideally and I always prefer an ASUS ROG motherboard - the choice depends on how many USB devices you need to connect to the motherboard, as some come with fewer USB ports to reduce cost.

If price is too much, you could get an i9 Coffee-Lake CPU, but it depends on your budget.

Motherboards, I tend to go for those without Wifi, so one of these (without wifi)Asus Mobos

The ££ add up quick.
Cheers,

Paddy

Keep in mind that the new Intel CPUs cost more, but don't give a real performance boost for pure gaming machines, particularly BoX. So study the specs carefully. Personally, I'd stay with the i7's...

In my opinion these days AMD has really blown Intel out of the water processor wise. I'd recommend any AM4 processor (Ryzen 7, 5, etc), I use a Ryzen 7 2300 (8 core, 3.2ghz base) overclocked to 4.0ghz paired with an NVIDIA video card without any problem.

Here are a couple to look at: https://www.newegg.ca/amd-ryzen-5-3600/ ... 6819113569

Motherboard wise, anything with the ports and size you need. Example if you're going for an AM4.
