SETUP: TS Whispers

Post by Flyby » Sun Jun 15, 2014 10:24 pm

OK, so for today's mission I had whisper issues and had to ask Esri to take over as staffelKapitan in Atreides' place. After the mission I wanted to refresh myself with setting up multiple whispers. So, to You Tube where I found this simple instruction video useful. Thought I'd share it:

I found it useful and hope you do as well.

I was unable to set up WHISPERS to my Schwarm Furher and kept getting the audible message "No Target Found". I could see the target contact's name get a red dot when I attempted the whisper, but it would not work.

Then, after some research, I found that whispering requires that I have a "i_client_whisper_power equal or higher as targets i_client_needed_whisper_power". This got me to start looking around the TS3 GUI and I found that the default permissions I had under "SET SERVER GROUP" was set to "GUEST (TEMP)". I was able to set myself as "ACG MEMBER (Perm)", and then the whispers I had set up started to work. So in my case, somehow the permissions I inherited didn't get set to member level.

Lesson learned and it works fine now.

Bubi and I have set up whispers between ourselves, so obviously we can all at least set up whispers within our rottes. Things change, so stay flexible. No telling who you'll be flying with, when. Knowing how to set whispers t one person is a good thing to know. ;)

Note that you can adjust the volume on a per client/pilot basis. So if you have a buddy that speaks softly or has mic gain issues, you can boost the volume gain for that particular player. Just place your mouse over that pilot's name in TS3, and pop up the menu and adjust volume menu selection. Another use would be to set higher priority by higher volume for commanders voices or wingman.
