There are others who are more informed about which headset is better (I went for the Rift S on the advice of others) but just get one Ginger - it's bloody fantastic

way to go Ginger. You'll have a blast once you get used to the bit of motion of VR. It's a lot more work in the cockpit physically, but you'll love it. I have the Rift S, but I'm thinking of buying the Reverb G2 as a back up or upgrade myself.

Talking of VR anyone advise on best settings for iL-2 using the following
i7-7700K 4.2GHz GTX 1080Ti ROG Strix OC 11264MB Graphics Card
Love flying VR but only averaging 45 FPS and whenever i'm dog fighting aircraft are appearing double vision.

Re: VR poll: Are you using / considering VR for sim flying?
My fps is about the same, but it all depends how much is going on, map, altitude, AI etc. My fps fluctuates between 40 and 80 depending. I have my shadows low, my graphics on high

Re: VR poll: Are you using / considering VR for sim flying?
Use my Rift on occasion but stick to the monitor most of the time, VR is great and the future but I find it more of a novelty than anything else at the moment.
Re: VR poll: Are you using / considering VR for sim flying?
I have virtually the same specs using a Reverb G1.
I suffered a huge hit on performance (decent FPS but loads of stuttering due to crap frame timing) since the change to deferred shading, so contacted 1CGS directly. Unfortunately, you'll have to turn loads of your settings down to get a decent frame and timeing rate.
These are some of the fixes they suggested to me. May or may not work for you but I can get around 80-90 FPS, my spotting is dogshit though:
- Introduce the game to the exceptions list security features or to disable them.
- Disable the Programs that use your video adapter in parallel with the game and utilities from the Manufacturer. For example, we have feedback from pilots who have had similar problems. They claim that some of these utilities have had a negative impact on the stability of the Game.
I deleted Dragon Centre etc..
- reinstall the drivers for your video card , It may make sense to try earlier versions of the Driver.
I reinstalled Feb 2020 nVidia driver
- if you have made changes in the settings of your video card drivers - please return them to the default state.
- exit/disable all unnecessary processes, especially turn off Nahimic software.
I deleted Nahimic and turned off loads of the startup programs using the methods used in these links they provided:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815069/en-us
- lowering anti-aliasing, FPS limitation and it sounds strange, but try turning on the 4K texture option.
I turned off in game AA and upped my VR SS to 120%, which had the greatest improvement in performance.
