Mission No.10 (8.12.2012)
Date: ( 12/8/1940)
Location: Kenley airfield
A/C: Hurricane Mk1 (100 oct) - SD-T P3208
T/O: 14:50
L/D: 15:49

I took off with the rest of Red Flight and vectored to the Southhampton sector. We arrived over the Solent at about Angels 19 and spotted bombers coming in from the W, coming up the Solent. I then saw a lone 109 diving on Red 1 and 2. I called out the contact and shouted for them to break. This time S/L Osprey and Cpl Moggel were awake enough to react in time.
I was slightly behind the lead element with LAC Meaker. We reversed direction and dropped towards the bomber which had headed N/E. LAC Meaker quickly got separated and the last anyone heard of him he was falling to the deck below a 109.
I was now behind and below the bomber stream and I could see lots of contacts between myself and the Hun bombers. I flew to the right of the formation and avoided the Snappers, skipping the rear elements and made for the lead element. By this time the formation had turned and was heading S/E.
I lined up on the leading JU 88, who was slightly below me, and opened up at 250 yds. I got his left engine on fire and saw the crew trying to bail. I then reversed to look for fighters and came in on a second JU 88 and shot him up and left him for dead.
I was now at around Angels 3 and over the Solent to the E of Southhampton. I saw multiple single E/As heading S. I engaged two JU88s and sent them towards France heavily damaged, they were fairly low and I don’t think they made it further than Cowes. I then enaged another JU 88 at about Angels 2 and got his tail unit on fire. The crew bailed again.
By this time I noticed another E/A slowly flying towards me, I flew at him and put a short burst into the already heavily damaged bomber, he was going down as I RTBed back to Kenley.
I landed 20 mins later and had a pint in the mess.

I claim:
2 JU 88 destroyed
3 JU 88 probable destroyed
1 JU88 shared destroyed

Campaign tally:

2 JU 87 destroyed
2 JU 87 as a probable
2 JU 87s as damaged
1 Bf 109 destroyed (confirmed)
2 BF 109 Probable
2 Dornier 17 destroyed
3 Dornier 17 damaged
2 JU 88 destroyed
3 JU 88 probable destroyed
1 JU88 shared destroyed

Mission 10 (09/12/12)
Date: 12.08.1940
Airfield: RAF Kenley
Aircraft: SH-B; Spitfire 2a

64 fielded 5 Spitfires today - Nitrous & Tyrone formed Pink section; Gromic, Yranac & myself formed Red section. We took off from Kenley and were vectored toward the Isle of Wight to intercept a large raid. Over the western side of IOW at angels 22, we spotted a large formation of enemy bombers at angels 14, and their fighter escort, 109s at angels 20. I directed Red and Pink section onto the six of 3 unsuspecting 109s whilst carefully watching 4 others covering the bombers at some distance. As we dove in, Pink section reported 109s at their six. Looking around I could not get an immediate fix on Pink section. The 109s we were diving on were now braking and so I pressed my attack, scoring a burst into the cockpit and engine of the rear 109 which exploded and went down in flames (claim 109 destroyed). Yrananc had closed on Pink section who were engaging 109s, searching for Pink section the sky around was filled with 109s and soon I was evasive spotting one attempting to get on my six. We twisted and turned, the 109 could not get on my six but I struggled to get on his long enough to get a shot. We descended to around angels 17 where a Hurricane joined the fight, the 109 realising this was not a fight he could win dove away. I was now close to the Ju88s and glanced across longingly, hoping to be able to get in on some bomber action but alas this was not to be, ahead of me I saw 109s dropping on some Hurricanes and I gave chase, I got onto the six of a 109 and got a few short bursts crippling him before finishing him off with a good 3 second burst - the pilot bailed out south west of the IOW (claim 109 destroyed - partial).

Looking around the skies had become clear all of a sudden, I came about and over R/T Nitrous reported being heavily engaged low on the western tip of IOW. I dove down and could see a 109 who was foolishly trying to 'boom and zoom' Pink leader - will these Hun never learn? It doesn't matter what tactics you try Fritz, with 64 in the air the only maneuver you'll be performing is going down for a swim! As I began to close on the 109 he turned about 180 and we passed nose to nose. He had obviously realised he was no match for Pink leader and was now running with Nitrous giving chase on his long six. With my excess E I easily managed to loop around and descend onto his six as he sped away. Nitrous had given him a good seeing to and Tyrone before, so sloppy thirds for me! I gave chase across the channel with Nitrous following keeping watch. Boost cut out on, 2800rpms, rad at 25% and 300mph on the dial, I slowly but surely closed thanks to his bunting up and down. However, the 109 was quick and I struggled to get to within my convergence of 200 yards. At 250 yards I started to give him little squirts and could see my outboard tracers hitting midway along his wings and flashes around the fuselage where my inner guns were striking. He began to vent but continued moving fast with the waves lapping up around him. Eventually I closed to within 200 yards and was able to give him a good squirt, with hits landing in the cockpit the 109 bucked suddenly and entered the drink (claim 109 destroyed - partial shared between myself, Nitrous and Tyrone).

Nitrous and I now raced back to the IOW as Yranac had become engaged with two 109s. Nitrous reported engine problems but thought he could still keep it up but by the time we arrived Yranac had already RTB'd with the 109s strafing him after he landed. I spotted two contacts over the IOW at angels 5 and intercepted - a 109 was attacking a Hurricane, they both dove to the deck and I pursued the 109 which promptly broke from attacking the Hurricane and climbed, presumably spotting my closing on his six. I climbed and maneuvered with the 109 and managed to get hits into him, he began to vent and nose bunted to the deck, as I rolled over to follow I spotted a contact swopping in on my six and so I broke, only to see it was the bloody Hurricane I had just saved. I waggled my wings (and my fist) at the Hurricane pilot as he closed on me and eventually he realised we were on the same side (they're a slow bunch, both the crates and their pilots ;) ). Now that the Hurricane was taken care of I searched for the 109 but could not spot him, given his damage I am unsure whether he made it back home (claim 109 damaged - probable). I had 10 gallons of fuel left and so RTB to RAF Tangmere.

Claims: one 109 destroyed; and two 109s destroyed (partial claims); and one 109 damaged (probable). [net stats= 2.68; SoW stats= 1.83]
Plane: No damage
Pilot: OK

Mission 10 (08/12/12)
Date: 12.08.1940
Airfield: RAF Kenley
Aircraft: Spitfire IIa SH-V

I took off as red 3 from Kenley with Bounder leading the flight. We were vectored to intercept large group of enemy bombers.
NW from the Isle of Wight we spotted bombers and their escort and we attacked them.I saw one pair sneaking towards Pink section
and I engaged them. They saw me and dived slightly toward East. I sprayed one at 13 000 ft and he went down loosing glycol and fuel
and I decided not to follow him.I spotted the second one and I was slightly higher so I came on his six.He dived South so I didn"t follow him.
I climbed to 17 000 ft over the IoW when Nitrous reported that he is under attack.I dived down but saw only damaged Ju 88 and 109
slightly above me.I started gaining on him but that was smart bastard, he was outclimbing me and soon I saw tracers arround me
and got few MG hits in my wing.I engaged the second one but I saw another plane east from me so I decided to dive low toward
airfield.Flak was bursting arround me and I decided to land.
When I was leaving my mighty Spitfire one of the Huns strafed me and I got small wound on my leg.
I saw one brave hurrie knocking that bastard down.

Claims: one 109 probable destroyed
Plane: few holes
Pilot: slightly wounded ( nice excuse to visit those charming nurses)))

Leading Aircraftsmen Meaker was killed in action whilst on CAP over the Solent on the 12th August 1940,his citation reads thus:

Whilst on combat air patrol with 501 Squadron over the Solent the flight became engaged on attacking a hostile flight of enemy bombers,it was during this engagement that LAC Meaker who had gone into the engagement with good heart was bounced from a lone 109,probably from his direct six o'clock. The attack was sudden and without warning and LAC Meaker was killed swiftly.

Mission 10 (08/12/12)
Date: 13.08.1940
Airfield: RAF Tangmere
Aircraft: Hurricane Mk.I NN-R

Leading the No.310 again in the strenght of 10, climbing hastily some 30 miles inland then changing course accordingly to the RDF. The group approached the combat area (IoW) from the North at Angels 20. Second flight led by No.310_Valec spotted a medium sized formation of enemy bombers flying north at approximately 15 thousand feet. Large section of the squadron dived on the bombers while 4 Hurricanes stayed higher up. We had visual on a flight of 3 Spitfires in the same area (NW of IoW) but they were already engaged with the enemy escort. There were at least 12 enemy figheters, flight of 3 flew directly below us so I ordered my number two, Pedropan, to follow and cover me while I attacked. I closed in rather fast on the last machine and shot im up badly from 200 yards - thin brown smoke poured out of this poor chap's engine, he was streaming glycol and fuel, diving north. Kill confirmed by my wingman. With my speed still building up we closed on the remaining two Messerschmitts, now alert as the 3rd chap certainly warned them over the R/T, as they started an aggresive right hand climbing turn. I cought the second machine as he was slowing down quickly and exposing his canopy and engine - gave him a good squirt resulting in massive cooland and fuel leak. His port wing aileron was on fire and he was leaking oil. My wingman also attacked this machine but missed his burst unfortunately. The last 109 dove away so we kept on climbing. At this point, many of the 310 pilots made contact with the enemy bombers, claiming quite a few, but there were also causalties as the remaining escort fighters came down on them. Valec was reporting a fight with a lone 109 not too far from us so we headed towards Southampton at Angels 16 and we found him eventually - he was already on the 109s tail, hosing him down. Jolly good. We attacked as well, catching the poor German in the climb and scored some good hits on him at which point he spun in and baled out. I confirm 1x Bf 109 destroyed to No.310_Valec. Re-joining and climbing at the strength of 4, the rest of the squadron was winchester after the bomber business and were RTB-ing. We found 3 more 109 slightly higher, approximately Angels 20. We were heading inlands climbing at full power to engage them co-alt before they spot us. They did eventually and made a series of attacks, rather unsuccesful although my wingman managed to break away just in time as a 109 whizzed past him. One of the planes got caught by No.310 Valec and after being attacked, the pilot spun in and was attacked by No.310_Falkon immediately. Scoring some hits he didn't follow andy further, I have seen the 109 recovering so I attacked, the pilot saw me and kept on gaining speed in a shallow dive. I cought up with him, having more speed and scored hits in his engine and canopy area. Glycol was pouring from one wing, but the pilot was very capable and didn't give up - he entered a series of slow barrell rolls forcing me to overshoot, the starting scissoring with me. This is not what I want to do in my Hurricane, but I couldn't extend vertically anymore and was forced to turn hard. The 109 followed me in that turn, the pilot was certainly very good as he managed to stay with me all the time, even when I was on the verge of a blackout, and he was shooting far behind me all the time, probably just tu put some pressure on his pray. I engaged the Boost-cut out override to get more power when I throttle back up eventually but somehow the temps kept on rising and soon my engine started to sound rather unhealthy - of course I forgot to open the rads fully when I entered that turn and my engine was overheating. I bleeded the rest of my speed ina tight spiral so I get the controls back to my Hurricane, the 109 didn't follow that maneuveur and went on straight - as I was gaining on him, my engine sputtered lots of oil on my windscreen and at the very same moment, the 109 pilot in front of me baled out. Jolly good. Shame I ruined my engine in the process - I found a nice place on the beach and belly landed my trusty Hurricane. I certainly have to salute to the skill of the German pilot who got arrested not too far from me. I kept on listening to the rest of the fighting, it seems the 310 was engaged in another melee with 109 directly over IoW and claimed two more 109 destroyed. I got a ride back to Tangmere and headed straight to the mess where I was being mocked for my constant 'Watch out for your temperatures chaps!' Valec was in the middle of all that, celebrating his 3 109s and smiling heavily. We lost 2 pilots today but the German certainly felt the heavy Czech boot up in his arse!

The No.310 squadron claims
7x Ju-88 destroyed
2x Ju-88 probably destroyed
1x Ju-88 damaged
6x Bf 109 destroyed
2x Bf 109 probably destroyed
2x Bf 109 damaged
at the loss of 2 Hurricanes and 3 damaged

Claims: 2x Bf 109 destroyed, 1x Bf 109 probably destroyed, 1x Bf 109 damaged
Plane: crash landed on the outskirts of Southampton with blown engine
Pilot: OK

Mission No.10 (8.12.2012)
Date: 13th August 1940
Location: Kenley airfield
A/C: Hurricane Mk1 (100 oct) - SD-K L2329

Jerry came across today to strike the Supermarine works down in Southampton and those chaps in Sector A needed our help again. We could only field 5 chaps but took off 10 minutes behind No.64 Squadron. We would've got away sooner had one of them not left debris on the runway after pranging his machine on takeoff. Setting course 220 we were ordered to intercept a large group of Hun in Ju88's at angels 15 and we caught sight of them over the Solent. At about that time their escort had arrived too so I ordered an immediate attack. I lined up one and got away a good squirt from close range from 5OC and damaged his starboard wing and engine. Hawes followed this one up and finished him off, sending him spiraling down into the Solent below us. I claim one half of this victory.
On my exit I was fast and took a good look around, sure enough one of the scoundrels in a fighter was following me. I knew I was fast and could see he wouldn't catch me so I started a long steep spiral climb to the left. He must've been inexperienced because he decided to follow this manoeuvre and as expected stalled his machine - I suspect he was one of those chaps from Gallands JG26. I took advantage and turned over as he spun. I fired but his erratic spin led me to one scratch him. He recovered and I followed his steep dive squirting him a few times but missing. His moves were too violent for my liking as I dropped over ten thousand feet in a minute and I decided to break off. He must have severe bruising in the shoulders at the very least! I claim this Bf109 as lightly damaged. At the lower altitude I found myself a lone Ju88 that had lost his formation and was still carrying his eggs. Heading from Southampton to Thorney Island I got myself into position and fired a long stream of British made lead into his starboard engine which began to fail as thick black smoke poured out. I moved onto the port engine, this time releasing the trigger, the chap I killed in the rear seat yesterday was still to vivid and I was just as close to this scoundrel, he wasn't firing anyway, I think he was cowering beneath the armour plating. I ruptured vital parts in the port engine and wing root, lots of pieces fell off and fluids streamed out. As I pulled away a fire started and I saw a frantic crew putting on their parachutes, popping hatches and jumping out. The Army can deal with that I thought as I watched the helpless machine fall ever steeper into a deadly dive. I was happy to see 5 parachutes open for today. I claim this Ju88 as destroyed, I am pretty sure it will have been witnessed by the pongo's on the ground and local kids looking for souvenirs.

I started climbing, everything looked quiet, then suddenly I spotted a squarehead bastard lining me up! Too late, I was shot and the control column went slack. I was just east of Cowes at Angels 8 when I jumped, thankfully my parachute deployed and I had a soft landing, happy to have survived.

Claims
Damaged
1x Bf109

Destroyed
1 and 1/2 Ju88

Lost
1x Hurricane Ia

Mission No.10
Date: 12/8/1940
Location: Ford
A/C: Hurricane Mk1 100oct - SD-B

After coming down on the Isle of Wight during the last patrol, I had struggled to make it back to home base. Trying to hitch a lift back to Kenley was almost impossible - the locals are all miserable buggers around the Solent! Via the few lifts I had picked up, had made it back to Ford and was awaiting the ATA to deliver my new aircraft from home base - which I would then fly home. My new plane arrived on the morning of the 13th August, and after a few checks, I was ready to take off and rejoin my squadron.
While I was wondering across the airfield towards my aircraft, I Received a message that 501 squadron had been scrambled up to meet an incoming raid over Southampton, and they were already heading my way and at altitude. Quickly getting into my aircraft, I started the engine and taxied to the runway.
After get to call that I could take off, I radioed in with the rest of 501 to check position, and I was some distance behind. Climbing as quickly as I could, I soon reached altitude, but was all alone.
Heading for the last reported sighting of the bombers, I was hearing over the radio that fellow 501 pilots were being jumped by some enemy fighters, I tried to gain ground to help, but to no avail. I reached the Isle of Wight and Solent area soon after the bombers had passed through, so decided to hang around and wait for the to attempt to fly home.
There were other Spits and hurricane chasing lone 109's but I thought I should stay high and wait form the bombers. Which didn't arrive. Slowly lost height of the Isle of Wight expecting that most of the enemy had had to return to France running low of fuel, but is was surprised when a 109 appeared from nowhere and jumped me, causing a few holes in my wing. Deciding that that was enough, and headed for the nearest base on the mainland, Lee on Solent, to save to trip across to water from the Isle of Wight.
It turned out my undercarriage controls had been damaged so had to land without it.

Right now to start the long trip home again!

Claims - None
Plane - Few holes in wing, engine dead as had to land with no undercarriage
Pilot - OK

Hopefully that long winded story covers for the fact my game would not connect.
