So the stat screen can’t be used but I can be told by an enemy pilot that I didn’t shoot him down? I’m not having a pop at you personally Boyzee but with this new sim there seems to be absolutely no consistency or historical accuracy. We seem to be cherry picking what should and shouldn’t be done historically. Things are becoming very confusing and even a little chaotic.
Not sure if there is any value responding now as your last post in this thread appeared to be a signing off one (unless I mis-understood)
No I'm afraid you cannot use the stat screen and never have been able to - I still find it surprising that people do so as it is a long standing ACG policy.
Whether an enemy pilot says you did or didn't shoot him down is a mute point with regards to your claim, it has no bearing on your AAR just as stats shouldn't, Toast's point was
why did you claim them both as neither are valid claims and he is correct.
So there is no inconsistency here, just that the claiming rules are not being adhered to* and that is why I said that we should remind everybody of them again, it was the same with the BoB and nothing to do with BoM which is something people need get their heads around when BoM is being blamed as the big bad wolf.
Unfortunately I have seen it before when pilots consistently do not adhere to these rules and their adjutant does not either (and it is always because a mis-understanding of the rules not an honesty issue) then other members get wind of it by reading reports and it becomes a public discussion which sadly always ends in fall out, the best thing in these cases is to learn from them and to ensure that things are being done correctly.
I don't understand your point about cherry picking things - do you mean with AAR's or the campaign as a whole? If it is the campaign then there is a lot of work being done to get it as fair as possible for every pilot which does mean having to make some changes here and there.
Which brings me on to my last point, we had to cherry pick and make changes in the BoB and BoF as well but nobody seems to care about that as Cliffs and it's theatre seems to be the darling of flights sims to many people, do not forget that our BoB campaign was matured and improved over a 6 year period (with a couple of back setps for Blitz unfortunately) and to expect any new campaign to be running at that standard or even close in such a short space of time is very unrealistic as it will take time to get right.
The good thing though is that once it is right then we have a great knowledge and platform for the Great Battles series that will enable us to move to Stalingrad, Kuban, Boddenplate, the Pacific and very likely Korea - how cool is that? It will also help secure the future of ACG as we will hopefully never again have to remain stagnant when it comes to platform and theatre, at that point changing theatres and sims will be a lot less painful and part of ACG culture.
* This is not against you personally Jonesy and I know that there are many others (including adjutants) that we need to make sure understand the claiming policy fully, nor is it a comment on your honesty as the issue is understanding and enforcement of the rules, there is no suggestion from me that you were bending them mate.
