Thanks for sharing that Sprite - it really brings it home seeing then and now footage. I've recently come back from Poelkapelle, near Ypres, and in the hour I spent walking the fields around Varlet Farm I found around a dozen shrapnel balls and a piece of artillery shell just lying on the surface of a seemingly peaceful farmed field. That video really does help bring home the reality behind today's grassy fields.

I collect 78rpm records (you know those old ones made from shellac). i mostly have ww2 stuff (Bomben auf Engeland and such) but I also have some WW1 records. here are a few of my records: - It's a long way to Tipperary(November 1914) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8wc58IQHHc (for all you die hard british ww1 fans)
- Soldatenmut (1912) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJXbChX1-PU (yes that's right it's the last part of the ww2 'Frankreichlied')
- Unsere Marine (1913-14 ish) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG-tfCwnZ8A (This is not my version because i have a very rare version and i took me a long time to find one that looks a bit like it on youtube, mine is very similar to this one except for the chorus not containing women and the last 3 notes you might also know this one as the final part of 'Wir fahren gegen Engeland')
i might digitalise a few of them in the near future....
