Operation Firestarter - BayS ToD 1 Briefing
Blitz at your Six (BayS) – Operation Firestarter
Tour of Duty 1 Briefing
The Battle of Britain is coming to an end. The German war machine has been turned away by The Few of the RAF and Hitler’s focus has turned East toward the Soviet Bear in the woods. This may just be his undoing and time will tell.
However, the pilots of the Luftwaffe are not very happy at the decision. They feel that with enough continued assault, victory is possible. The fighting over the next few weeks is going to be as intense as ever, with a specific shift in tactics for the Luftwaffe.
This Tour of Duty (ToD) during Operation Firestarter, will lay the foundations for the Winter Blitz and an attempt to strangle Britain’s ability to sustain itself. The current real life date, will be reflective of the reciprocal time during the war, starting on October 20th 1940.
This six week ToD will endeavour to pitch the Luftwaffe against the RAF, with a real-time conflict, with real-time mission changes and adaptions as needed. In short, nothing is pre-set about these missions, other than the unit you fly for.
You will choose a unit to fly for, if you are committed to the entire six week campaign. The same rules apply during these missions as in campaign. If you die, crash land or bail out, your mission for the day is over.
Certain missions will offer two sortie opportunities and you will be briefed before the mission in your respective briefing rooms. Luftwaffe will be briefed first, followed by the RAF.
Pilots are all encouraged to be in their respective briefing rooms ready at 6pm, once they have been briefed, they will be given the password to enter the server and spawn in.
New channels have been created in Teamspeak under the Cliffs of Dover TS Channel (This is specifically away from the previous campaign channels to keep clear separation between this event and the main ACG campaign).
Pilots who cannot commit to the full six weeks are encouraged to come on an ‘Arrive n Fly’ (AnF) basis and each unit will have five aircraft available on a ‘first come first served basis. Once these aircraft are taken, any extra pilots will placed into the Auxiliary Units. Pilots from other servers are also welcomed and encouraged to join us to sample the 'ACG' way of doing things.
Pilots are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone and try something new for a particular ToD, you will be able to switch sides and units at the end of the ToD but not during, other than the AnF pilots.
ToD PILOTS – PLEASE ADVISE WHICH UNIT YOU WISH TO FLY FOR BELOW & YOU NAME WILL BE ADDED TO THIS ROSTER.
The units for this first ToD will be;
RAF
No. 151 Squadron – Hurricanes – Base of Operation = RAF North Weald
Guido, Dange, Genisis, Magic, Johnny, Baron, Scotty, Biggs, Django
No. 64 Squadron – Spitfires – Base of Operation = RAF Kenley

SKINS
Pilots, we will be using the in game skins, so please ensure you check/select the ‘markings’ box and then go through the list until you find your unit listed above.
You are free to select the Letter/Number of your choice, as long as it does not clash with anyone else. PLEASE KEEP THAT ID FOR THE DURATION OF THE ToD.
Once you have flown your mission or have been killed, bailed etc, you are encouraged to enter the Pilot Lounge connected to the channel, for everyone to gather and swap stories and find out who shot who!
OPERATION FIRESTARTER OBJECTIVES
Luftwaffe Objective
The call has been made - the emphasis is to switch to night time raids of London and the surrounding towns and cities. The Blitz has begun…….
However, prior to each of the nights raids, a forward mission of more precise targeted focus, will set the fires burning by which the bombers at night will be able to follow.
These missions will be launched in late afternoon and dusk conditions and returning home will be a challenge.
Over the six weeks, you will be tasked with protecting the bombers as they head for their given target or targets that day. As many units have been transferred to the Eastern Front, you can expect to be short- handed against an RAF force that appears to be stronger than you were lead to believe by high command.
If the Luftwaffe manage to hit their designated target, then the RAF have failed that day and the Luftwaffe will advance to their next objective the following week.
The fighters MUST protect the bombers, otherwise the RAF will take the day. You will only discover if you get to advance to the next objective at your next briefing the following week.
Good Luck
RAF Objective
Hold the Line! – Your orders are simple, stop the Germans for hitting their key objective targets and you hinder their plans and you keep the nation safe and the war effort ongoing.
Following the ferocious battles of the last few weeks, many units have been put on rest and recuperation and so new units have been drafted in to hold the defensive line over the Capital.
No.151 Sqn and No.64 Sqn, will be paired together in their operational sector. Obviously the Spitfires are primarily there to deal with any escort fighters and the Hurricanes should be focused in destroying bombers.
Conserve your ammunition, it is unlikely you will be able to land and reload during a raid. The raids are expected to be large and your primary objective is to ensure the bombers do not reach their target, so shoot them down early and as far away from London as you can.
Good Luck
RESERVE UNITS
Both sides have reserve units. These units will be the last to take off and they will be used if we have the numbers in support, or for late arrivals that have been delayed through unforeseen circumstances. (LW pilots are suggested to do some practice flights in the Me110, just in-case you are needed to fly a second sortie that night)
AT THE END OF THE SIX WEEK ToD IT WILL BE DECLARED AS TO WHICH SIDE WON THE BATTLE.
We will not be using the PAM or issuing medals, this is more about enjoying the sim and flying with some new folks and encouraging people to try the ACG way of flying and maybe migrate them to the main campaign.
This ends the briefing and if any new information is added, it will be placed here within the original post. Check it each week before you fly.
This Saturday is a pure practice mission, to check the map works and we have the assets we want, where we want them. A trial run for next week’s first ToD mission.
So get signing up below.....
Good luck…

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go always a little further; it may be beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow across that angry or that glimmering sea

Re: Operation Firestarter - BayS ToD 1 Briefing
A critical personal shortage of brylcreem and effete perfumery (the base requirements for Spits ) means I'll have to opt for a Hurricane...don't mind which sqn, whoever needs the numbers.

Re: Operation Firestarter - BayS ToD 1 Briefing
I'll fly whatever's needed numberwise.
Re: Operation Firestarter - BayS ToD 1 Briefing
I'm going to give this a go, though I just had a kid arrive this past week so he may dictate my flying schedule. Still feeling it out in that regard. Poor 615 is feeling that as is.
Sign me up to fly 109s with 6th Staffel. I've flown RAF for a good long time and would love to try the other side.

Happy to Hurri, but willing to 109 if the numbers require.
