TFS Server Test 17th Nov @ 1800GMT

Post by Bonkin » Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:07 pm

Gents,

TFS is asking for a server test on Saturday 17th November @ 18:00 GMT. Here is a quote regarding the test:
TF's Code Group would like to run a test of the current version of TF 4.53 Blitz to pinpoint areas where the netcode can be improved for TF 5.0.

We would request as many players who can attend as possible, the results will be important for TF 5.0 gameplay.

Server will be set up with large numbers of AI aircraft flights, etc.

Date and time is November 17th at 1800 GMT.

Players use their current TF 4.53 Blitz install. There is no requirement to patch any new data.

The test is designed to determine the point at which the total numbers of humans and AI become problematic in 4.53 and to identify what areas can be improved for TF 5.0.

There will be designated Teamspeak channels on the ATAG Teamspeak.
I'm not sure if this will clash with Blitz at your Six - but nonetheless, may be a good opportunity to mix it up?

Cheers,

Bonks.

Yep this clashes with the last but one mission for BayS ToD1 .....

Final ToD1 mission is the week after and it should be a corker!

What if I ran the mission as if I was going to do it on our server.... but on theirs? With Luftflotte I can do that...

...only if I get access to the new server DLLs first...

For Luftflotte to run it requires us to include our own DLL in the mission cs file, which needs to be recompiled to include a number of Maddox DLLs that are the same as the ones the server runs.

I think it is safe to assume there won't be any chance for this since TFS members will be monitoring the server themselves with understood parameters. The idea is to get a lot of players into the same area with AI and flak etc. i.e. a stress test. Looks like the Isle of Wight will be the main area.

Bonks.... any feedback on that test?

At one point I saw 109 pilots (number of pilots not the aircraft) connected but it soon shat the bed! :(

To me it seemed less stable that past nights when servers have had near 100 pilots with no problem. So my thought is that whatever they were testing seemed worse than normal?

But would be good to know what exactly they were trying to test as we didn't seem to get any more than 10 minutes of flight before the server conked!
