It's going to happen for sure. There's stuff going on that I can't wait to tell you about as well.

Re: TFS Developer Update – Nov/Dec 2018
Bonks,
While I still prefer flying CloD to everything else this post is worrying. Whilst we all wait eagerly, the fan base slowly drops away as they get into other things, VR for instance (which is likely to be good before TF 5 appears) or simply died of old age waiting. Meanwhile, a semi commercial organization intent on making this a viable proposition spends time building highly detailed models of a large number of battleships and cruisers that never passed the Straits of Gibraltar. I am assuming this work is being undertaken by a modeller who is both free of charge and refuses to work on anything else. There are so many things that need sorting for North Africa and we have waited so long that posting a list of Navy heavy metal that was not involved and does not include an aircraft carrier is more than a little worrying. If the map of Norway was about to be published then I might get this, but really? Now if it was an aircraft carrier you would have something. There are no current combat WW2 flight sims that have carrier ops and that would be a real point of difference, a commercial game changer.
Sorry to be a damp squib but I fail to get excited about the opportunity for the DAF to attack the Scharnhorst!

My first reaction was also 'Woah, are we getting surprised with a Norway scenario where all these KM ships will operate?!' Alas, it wasn't to be and it seems to be just some extras on the side; the only scenario I can imagine them being used is to recreate the Channel Dash using the CloD map. As much as I would love Mediterranean carrier ops, we'd need a plethora of maps to represent Battle of Matapan (Cape Matapan), Op Judgement (Port of Taranto), Op MAQ3 (Crete), Op Excess/Tiger/Pedestal/Husky (Malta/Sicily Straits) for the 41/42/43 scenarios. Ultimately, this project seems to revolve around Tobruk and it's understandable that no carriers are in the works because... they weren't involved.

The TFS motto, used to be 'Keeping The Dream Alive'.......unfortunately,there was no plan of keeping any community alive at the same time ......sad.
Merry Christmas to all BTW

Van, neither was the long list of battle wagons and heavy cruisers. My point was if you have a free modeler who only wants to make ships, get him to make the Ark Royal and keep us a bit happy.

I don't disagree with your concerns. I'd be in the same boat (pun intended) if I didn't have visibility of other work.
Re: TFS Developer Update – Nov/Dec 2018
As already stated in another hot topic, I'm the odd pilot that does not prefer any scenario or theater above any other. So for me it's all the same and I enjoy flying over Russia as I did over the Channel. And I'm certain that the Mediterranean conflict and North Africa will not be different when it comes to that. I also hope that ACG continues to use and experience any theater possible for us. I really dread the thought of ACG getting stuck with one simulator and theater in the future in a multi-year loop. Sorry for the slight derail, Bonks.
When it comes to TF5, I have arrived in a state of Nirvana. Where there's not pain, no desire, no expectations and also almost no interest anymore. I just await it's arrival, or not. When and if it is released, I'm certain it will be added to the ACG list of possible theaters and campaigns. And I see no problems with that as long as ACG is alive and healthy.

To add to the posts above, at first glance it would seem odd to include ships and items that may not have relevance to Tobruk... and so the obvious question would be why?
But, if we read between the lines that Bonks cannot discuss, might we see Tobruk (TF5) launched with the Channel map and maybe other maps too?
In which case, having a range of assets to create multiple campaign scenarios, might just be the cleverest thing TF5 could do with this entire Sim....
Am genuinely intrigued now...

Re: TFS Developer Update – Nov/Dec 2018
Don't you think that the main reason Tobruk was fought over is it's one of the deepest ports in that neck of the woods?
Port's aren't ports without ships....

Re: TFS Developer Update – Nov/Dec 2018
It certainly was, but the issue here is that instead of representing the ships that actually made the difference and fought in the seas around Tobruk, there are a bunch of irrelevant classes of ships from all sides.
In the list of ships in the update, I've the underlined ships that have no relevance to Tobruk yet resources have been spent making them.
Classes that I can think of that saw service in the area/potentially operated around Tobruk that are missing include; V/W class destroyer, C/D class destroyer, J/K/N class destroyer, Admiralty type flotilla leader, C class cruiser, County class cruiser, Dido class cruiser, numerous classes of sloops/minelayers/gunboats/monitors, U and S class submarine, Trento class cruiser, Condottieri class cruiser, Navigatori class destroyer, Turbine class destoyer, 600 series submarine, Cagni class submarine etc.Bonkin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 9:36 pm
