Il-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Bodenplatte

Post by CharlieBrown » Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:03 am

How do you like Il-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Bodenplatte? I love it! It is the next part of the award-winning series of aviation simulators. The game is set in World War II and focuses on Operation Bodenplatte - the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) air offensive on the Western Front in 1944-45. 777 Studios and 1C are responsible for the production. In late December 1944, with the collapse of the German offensive in the Ardennes, which was to decide the fate of the war, the idea of a massive attack on 20 Allied airfields in Holland, Belgium, and France appeared. The operation was to be carried out by surprise, with approaches to the targets at low altitude - in the so-called blind spot of the Allied radiolocation stations. The basic assumption was to inflict the greatest possible losses on the enemy air force without entering an open battle, in which the Germans would not have the slightest chance. The author of the plan was Luftwaffe Field Marshal Hugo Speerle, and the operation involved fighter and fighter-bomber regiments, or about 900 aircraft. Operation Bodenplatte represented one of the largest equipment massages since the invasion of Normandy. Il-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Bodenplatte in the PC version is a classic aircraft simulator. The production allows you to fight battles in a faithfully recreated war theater and offers a selection of fighters known from World War II. The machines available in the game are: - Bf 109 G-14, Fw 190 A-8, Me 262, P-51D, P-47D, Spitfire Mk.IX, Tempest Mk. V, Fw 190 D-9, P-38L, B-25. This title includes a Low-Countries map, covering parts of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, where we can find airfields, cities, and villages known from history. Over these areas, we can fly in both winter and summer conditions (the game offers two texture packs).
