This is only partially true. You get one character for each faction. You will always fly with the active character of your current faction on the public server.
Naturally, it is open to you how many fucks you give about the stats.

We had the intension to reward regular flyer's with the ranks. Therefore the carry over system. I'll explain a bit more what the criteria for promotion/demotion are with one of the next updates.

That's what I meant Thaine, by changing your Steam name, you could have an unlimited amount of characters, each tied to a different Steam name.

Nope. This is because we are limited to what the clod server exposes (as that is where we harvest all the data), which is name and (possibly) IP address. And IP address is obviously imperfect as a unique, permanent key.

I got the OK from Donkey.

As said I will erase all entries in the public server tables and activate the functionality tonight 2400 UTC.
