Blitz won't start now

Here's the short story. A couple of weeks ago my PC encountered the "inaccessible boot device" error. From the x:\ I ran the rstrui command and did the system restore thing, which got the PC back to normal. I think the cause was a screwy download for the software to a new wireless printer I had setup (for the wife initially from disc; the software was for my PC to be connected wirelessly too). Since I was on break from Blitz for a bit I did not think to try it or any other sim on my PC. Well, I tried Blitz. It does not start. I deleted the 1c folder, deleted the game through Steam, then reinstalled. No joy. I verified files. No joy. After several variations on this theme Blitz still won't start. A quick check, and all my other sims start and function normally. Even a 4.312 starts normally. I am now left without a clue. I've done many Google searches, but still no joy.
Need a little help. I'm to return to flight status this weekend (hopefully).

Have you rolled back to a previous version of windows that did work with blitz?

not to a previous version, only to a previous restore point. I like Win10, and prefer to stay on it if I can.

If I were you Flyby. Reinstall 10 from scratch. You can get the .iso from MS.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. It's the only way IMO.

You don't have to re-register it either, as MS knows its yours, and does it all for you.

To stop Win10 from downloading Hardware Drivers, do this (for Pro Edition and above):

If you’re using Windows 10 Professional, Enterprise, or Education, the easiest way to change this setting is by using the Local Group Policy Editor. It’s a pretty powerful tool, so if you’ve never used it before, it’s worth taking some time to learn what it can do.

To open the Group Policy Editor, press Windows+R, type “gpedit.msc” into the Run dialog box that appears, and then press “Enter.”

Navigate to the following path in the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor window:

Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update

Double-click the “Do not include drivers with Windows Updates” option in the right pane.

Set the option to “Enabled” and click “OK.” You may need to restart your PC before this setting takes effect.

If you want to restore the default behaviour in the future, return here and set the option to either “Not configured” or “Disabled”.

Doing this stops Win10 from trying to Download Video Card Drivers or other Hardware Drivers you don't want, but Bill Gates thinks you do!

Periodically check to make sure your settings are good.

I'm not as technical as the other guys Flyby but I certainly wouldn't entertain re-installing windows for one game that doesn't work.

It might be worth waiting for the Blitz patch that is planned shortly, I don't know what issues it is proposed to solve but this could hopefully be one of them, Blitz is a bit of a mess at the moment so I would just wait it out - just a complete guess but might be worth hanging on before doing anything too drastic.

I've posted this previously , but to repeat ( this is not perhaps the best option ) but I took a week to find out how to ' stop ALL ' auto downloads from Microsoft ......

thanks for the replies, guys. My natural inclination is to focus solely on Blitz. It's as Boyezee says, reinstalling Win10 for just one (of eleven total) games on this PC seems a bit of work in the broader view. I'll keep searching the internet of all things, and keeping tabs on this thread as well. I'm in no position to reinvent the wheel here, but I'm confident I won't have to; just have to find the right cure for what ails Blitz.
