help. I keep losing my control settings

I have a couple of questions, if anyone could help?
I'm having an annoying problem losing my control settings. I couple of times when I logged onto CoD all my controls were reset to default. I reconfigured all the controls and switches again, and it was fine for a few days. I could log on and off and shut my PC down, no problem. Then it happened a few more times. Nothing had been unplugged. Then...
I had saved the configuration, but when I went to load it, and opened the file, nothing happened, no change. Am I missing some steps? I don't know why the setting don't reload, or why I lost them in the first place? It's very annoying to have to reconfigure again and again. Could it be a Steam problem, my shitty PC, something else ? Any suggestions ?

Not really a fix, but you can save the file and make a back-up in a separate folder then all you have to go is click "load" in controls and select that file and it will remap to that instantly, saves you doing it all over every time at least.

There’s a setting in steam you don’t want it saving your settings in the cloud.
