A comment on this. The main reason is getting humans to behave, and in large numbers, which is not practical. When there are small groups for special tasks as is historically accurate, then there is no objection. Nevertheless I'm not going to support decimation of crews to fund a pure bomb group, I don't think that is right.

Speaking of one-sided slaughterfests: Which one of the mudmover squadrons, Ju-87s or Pe-2s is more in need of suicidal maniacs to fill the ranks?
