Stuttering/Freezing/FPS Drops Problems

Post by Woop » Sun Mar 25, 2018 11:12 am

Hello all,

I'm having problems with BoX!

Probably since this last game update (I didn't play all that much in the past) I've been having massive issues with the game. You can find my PC info at the bottom of this post.

The issues are as follows:
Game freezes on spawning into a plane, takes about 3-4 seconds to smoothen out.
Quite a bit of stuttering in Multiplayer, mostly on the big servers.
Frequent FPS drops. Frames sit nicely at around 40-50 on most maps, with many drops to 10 or 1 fps that last a few seconds, with no apparent cause. Kuban spring map is virtually unplayable with an average of 10 fps, with lots of drops to 1 fps.
Screen/pixel tearing when moving head with TrackIR5.

I have updated my gpu drivers to the latest version.

The issues persist with full screen mode on too.

I do not run any compatibility settings.

The problems are minimal in Single player.

I see my card is struggling. I use Open Hardware Monitor and I can see that my card is constantly at 99/100% load, with temps at around 80 degrees Celsius.

I need help! :?

Thanks in advance.

I'll have a video up on YT in about an hour, showing how the game plays right now.

That I know, sadly...

It's only since this last update however that these issues have emerged for me.

If you haven't already:
Tick the 'use 4k textures' box in settings, there's a bug causing stutters.
Reduce view distance to 40km (what it was before the update) as it is set to 150km by default now.

Kuban is known to be a real resource hog though, and quite a few people are struggling a bit.

Turned 4k textures on and put view distance to 40km, only tiny difference.

Bugger. I think you might have to look at upgrading unfortunately. Have you tried overclocking the 2500k? Think I used to run mine at 4.2 Ghz.

This is what I see on the Kuban Spring map.  :suicide: :suicide:

Runs better of course with everything on Low, but still get the same stuttering/freezing/tearing/fps drops.

Sell a kidney and upgrade. Your PC is unfortunately, ancient. :(
Until I went VR I ran everything on ultra/max settings, and my PC is quite old.
