WWII Mission: Intercept

Post by Steel » Fri Mar 15, 2024 6:33 pm

Hello,

We are hosting another DCS mission as it's been a while. Mission will take place on Sunday 24th March at 18:30 GMT
Ginger has built one for us and we thank him for that.

This time will be similiar to what the first mission was that Storyteller built,
B-17's bombing a target deep in the Normandy map with Allied aircraft in escort (Excluding Mossie) and Axis in intercept.

To participate you need one of the aircraft (listed below) as well as the WWII Assets Pack and the Normandy map, whichever version should work, just that with the old V1 some of the areas might be lower resolution for you.
There is a sale on right now and with a little over a week to go, now is a good time to trial the plane you want to fly and get practicing before the flight out.

Here is the brief outline:

Image

As you can see, delayed airfields will open some 30min into the mission which should enable the Germans to strike the bomber force at least a few times as well as for the allies to defend them should you get shot down at any time.
Bombers will be spawned in by command when the escorts are climbing and the contrails should help the Germans to see the bombers coming in, but this can all be communicated if necessary.

Aircraft available for allies

- P-51 Mustang
- Spitfire Mk.IX
- P-47 Thunderbolt

Axis aircraft available

- BF109 K4
- FW190 D9
- FW190 A8

Please sign up below so we have an estimate for what numbers we're going to get, should be plenty aircraft available

The Assets pack is HALF PRICE right now, only $15.

I'll fly P-51D

I was in the original Normandy crowdfunder which is how I got the P-51 and Dora, but I have never flown on a Normandy map so no idea if this would even work.

I be in the bird Reginald Mitchell's wife named?
Story as it , that Mitchell spent weeks trying to come up with names for his new creation, Shrew/Scarab/Swallow/Spitfire
and the day before it was to be shown to the RAF brass he had narrowed it down to Swallow or Spitfire?
That night in bed he just couldn't sleep so turned to his wife and said" Spit or swallow darling" the rest is history . :salute:
