Take-off from Biggin Hill as Blue 2 with Teepee as Blue Leader, Larry as Blue 3 and Ninja as Blue 4. Transit towards Littlestone area to intercept radar plot of german bombers. Attack of these bombers at angels 9. Damaged two He-111 on first pass. Set the engine of another He-111 on fire on second pass. Aborted third pass to engage a 109 on the six of a Hurricane, damaging its radiator. Entered dogfight with second 109 afterwards , chasing it to the deck together with Sokka. We both got hits into the 109 during the chase but I finished it off as it seems as it lawndarted straight into the countryside after an extended volley into the main fuselage from my .303s. Not a minute too soon as I went winchester with that last volley. Tried to regroup with Blue lead but couldn't find him anymore, so he ordered me to RTB. Returned to Biggin Hill shortly after.

Base: Kenley

Synopsis:

Panta Sqn took off form RAF Kenley and climbed on a heading of 120 degrees magnetic to Dungeness. We had a flight from number 64 Sqn to form a top cover. We were ordered to orbit inland and await an En Formation and engage them when they made landfall.

We sighted a large group of En A/C inbound in the Dungeness area. Red Leader ordered Red section to engage the right hand side of the En formation whilst Blue section was to attack the left hand flank.

I made a pass at the rear section and managed to land some hits on the outer He111. It was at as this point my aircraft was peppered by several side gunners. The engine belched out oil and promptly stopped.

I lost height rapidly to maintain speed and to vacate the combat area as quickly as possible. I made a wheels down emergency landing in the area of grid AV-24.

I had a short walk to a near by farmhouse where a was greeted at the door by a very surprised young lady who offered me tea with some home made jam and bread for which I was very grateful for.

Date: 16 Aug 1940
Base: Kenley
Type: Hawker Hurricane Ia 100 Oct

Serial:

Synopsis:
Launched as Red 2, flight of 3, with Spud leading. Intercepted 30+ HE-111s just inland and Red flight took the left side of the formation. 109's spotted overhead. Spud hit the far left HE-111 and I took the one in the center. Enemy defensive fire was thick and accurate. Fortunately, though hit several times, no serious damage occurred. Made seven passes on the enemy formation shifting to undamaged bombers. On the seventh pass realized all ammo had been expended. The probables both had an engine on fire. Jumped by 109 coming off last pass, but evaded successfully. RTB without incident.

Flew on a heading of about 210 climbing to 9000ft when we spotted a flight of He111 lead called tally and we turn right to engage there 6.
Diving on the targets I pick one He111 on the far right, closing in on target I fired seeing hits strike target just then the enemy activated there new V weapon I believe its called a Lag Bomb which effect most of the squadron.
When I recovered from the effects there was a He111 about 10 yards from me, banked hard right to avoid but my left wing tip clipped his tail sending me spiralling earthbound.
Jettisoned my canopy and bail out landing safely in a field set of walking came across a telephone box so I called Biggin Taxi's who took me back to base for drinks with the lads however couldn't afford a round as it cost bloody 5 Shillings for the taxi.

Take-off from Biggin Hill as Red 2 with Sabre as Red 1 and Sokka as Red 3. Made contact with 40+ Heinkels at 9000ft in the area of Littlestone and followed Blue section in to attack from their rear. I fouled up my first attack and had no firing solution so broke off to the right; witnessed Sokka pass me and put good shots into a He111 which promptly burst into flames and peeled away from the formation.

Mauf landed hits on a 109 chasing a Hurricane and caused him to leak coolant. He immediately dove away and turned south. I had an energy and altitude advantage initially so decided to attack as Mauf had at this point disengaged - put a second's worth of .303 into him at convergence and he burst into flames, rolled over and hit the deck in a spectacular fireball - elated to bag my first snapper!

Witnessed Mauf and Sokka engaged with another 109 so held position roughly 2000ft above to provide cover as best I could - Mauf landed good hits once again and he also went down! Tangling with the snappers certainly beats shooting Stukas in a barrel!

Sokka and I formed and started heading north - the large formation of Heinkels was still visible in the distance so we made best speed to return to the main event. We ran into two straggling Heinkels in loose formation and decided to engage. We each made several attacks on both filling them both with .303 and they both eventually went down - one in flames. Observed parachutes from one only, believe the crew of the other did not have time to bail out.

We decided at this point, having lost sight of the larger formation, to return to Biggin Hill and landed without incident.

A/C: Two bullet holes in the port wing root, He111 defensive gunner responsible

Time: 17.00hrs
Base:Kenley
Type: Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 100oct.Rotol.
Marking:B for beer.
Serial number: P3231

Took off from Kenley in our usual 615 immaculate style and headed towards Dungeness airspace but were ordered to patrol inland so went into a long left hand circuit to pick up the expected trade which was spotted on our 11 oclock,
S/Ldr Spud ordered Blue flight to take on the left hand group whilst he led Red flight to the right on a near head on pass.

Turning back Blue flight tackled the right side where i destroyed the outermost 111, turned sharply to the right and down away from the formation and got peppered in the engine with the oil covering the windscreen, stated i was rtb and saw Midge get a nice flamer as well which i can confirm.

Tried to reach Wilmington but with dead stick i had to belly flop in a corn field. Spent 1/2hr bird watching.

Claims:
Destroyed:1-H,111, Confimed by Tech, Midge
Probable:0
Damaged:0

Losses
Pilot:In the Red Lion.
