It was a nice summer evening here at Maquise. All my pilots where sitting around the airfield, drinking wine, playing chess, reading newspaper and so on when I recieved the call from the headquartes that my Gruppe was selected for the daily evening patrol.
We took of at 1840, crossed the coast at Calais and flew over towards Dover. Nothing special was seen, everything was quiet - no shipping and no enemy planes in that area. We turned left towards Dungeness. Everything looked like we just would land back at our base in 10 minutes without enemy contact. But than at 1852 I spotted a formation of 12 Blenheims flying from Dungeness towards Cap Gris Nez at about 3km. No escorted with them. I orderd the whole Gruppe do dive down, attack them and climb up again. The Blenheim I attacked went straight into the channel, at 1855. We climbed up again, looked out for enemey fighters - still none there. So I gave orders for another attack on the Blenheims. We hit them hart again. Another Blenheim got the victim of my mighty 109, this was at 1857. After climbing up we spotted a lot enemy fighters around Cap Gris Nez. A big dogfight started. At 1859 only one Blenheim was left, it was on its way to Boulogne, streaming some fluid from one engine. One of my pilots finally finished this one off before dropping bombs while eceryone else was engaged with the Hurricanes and Spitfires. I engaged several enemies - damaged 3 Hurricanes and 2 Spitfires. At 1903 I suddenly got hit from behind. My ailreon control went of control so I decided to head back home to Marquise. I didn't saw who attacked me but he went in a second time, damaging my water radiators. However I managed to land back at Marquise at 1905.

Well , I did it again , and lost to my worst enemy , My own stupidity ...
Yearning to the moment I would make a difference , and do some damage to someone else ...
I think I would rather be KIA fighting for the fatherland then be a laughing stock for the ground crew , who must really hate me by now ...
I guess I have iosns of practicing to do .... :x
