Today I took of with the 6. Staffel at 11:36. The task was a free hunt over Dover in advance of in coming bomber raids. We climbed up to 8000m and patrolled between Folkstone, Dover and Manston. The 4. and 5. Staffel were on the same task, they flew at about 5000m. At 1200 the other 4. and 5. Staffel reported Spitfires over Dover harbour. I could see the dogfight from above (still at 8000m) and gave orders to the 6. Staffel to dive down into the fight. While diving I saw a group of Do-17 over the channel and some 5 to 10 Hurricanes doing their inital attack. Still in the dive we headed directly to them to help our bomber comrades. This was at about 1202. 1500m above the bombers and Hurricanes I did a fast Split-S manoeuvre onto the enemies. My wingman Wiesel was close behind me and the others of the 6. Staffel as well. With a speed of 700kmh we smashed through the enemies and our bombers. I fired some shots at two Hurricanes. I misse dbut I scarred them away for a moment. Climbed up again and repeated the manoeuvre. Still no hits on the enemy. Wiesel and me climbed up again over Dover to get an overview of the situation. A massive dogfight directly over Dover. The sky was filled with aircraft and bullets from 1000m to 5000m. Wiesel and me attacked some Spitfires and Hurricanes. I damaged a Hurricane at 1213 and a Spitfire at 1215, both over Dover. They dived away and we stayed up high. At 1219 Wiesel and me decided to fly back towards France. We heard from other pilots that they are being chased by Spitfires over the channel. We spotted 3 or 4 Spitfires at mid channel. One of them already shooting at Wiesel's six. Wiesel got away and a hot chase towards France begun where Wiesel and me kept our sixes free each other in alteration. Near the French coast at Wissant one of these Spitfires finally got a single hit into my water radiator. After doing one more attack on a Spitfire on Wiesel's ass I broke off the fight and landed safely at Wissant, at 1226. Wiesel successfully shook of the Spitfires and made it back to base as well.

Terrible start - completely fracked up take off .
Go my ass back in a new E4 Joined with Krass and Flyby (What an amazing Schwarmfurrer ).
Spotted a large dogfight , Joined .
Kinda lost track of my Schwarm .
Got my first Campaign kill and with my dumb luck - no one around to confirm .
Spotted Flyby venting over Dover Harbor , Managed to shake off his attacker , Got a Spitty on my tail which tore off my water line .
Had to bail .
Ended up sharing a U-Boat home with Flyby and Krass .
Amazing Campaign !!!

Reinhart and I engaged multiple contacts over Dover scoring heavy damage on one Spitfire - mostly by Reinhart. After the loss of our schwarm leader and his wingman and consequently radio contact with our staffel kapitan we headed for France and came upon a Spitfire chasing a 109 on the deck. I hit his radiator on the first pass and Reinhart scored additional hits. When I he turned to run I chased him, finished him off, watched him bail out, and saw his chute open over the channel. He's close enough. Maybe one of our boats will pick him up.

Reinhart and I returned to base and landed safely without a single bullet hole in either of our109s.

Today I took over lead for 2nd Schwarm. To celebrate I fumbled handling my aircraft and so made a sloppy takeoff across the airfield. Forming up was accomplished as we headed to our duty assignment, patrolling the airspace over Dover harbor. Vlerkies rendezvoused with us over our patrol area, joining us after a late takeoff. As usual someone called out bogeys, and the fight was on. Lots of maneuvering and extending and rejoining the battle area, all the while becoming separated from the schwarm. SOmehow I wound up just above the city of Dover, headed in the wrong direction. As I turned to exit the area and reestablish contact with friendlies, my plane took several sharp hits, and I was wounded. I dove away towards the sea and pushed the throttle to the firewall. A few more hits, but I kept going, daring not swerve one bit. I kept peeking around the seat ,and finally became convinced I was home free. Soon the engine started going rough on me, and I throttled back to try and conserve it as long as I could. The French cliffs were drawing closer. But the engine would have none of it,and soon began to squeal as bearings dried out and turned to molten metal. I was still several kilometers from the cliffs, but I didn't have enough altitude to glide that distance, nor did I have enough power in the engine to pull the plane any higher. So, over the side I went. Shore patrols spotted me, and vectored a U-boat to haul me out of the Kanal. Safe! And who do I see sitting there chugging a ration of schnapps? Lee! Kudos to Lee for peeling the RAF off my tail.

I have missed a lot of practice flying with my staffel and it showed today.

Takeoff with Schwarm 1 was a shambles due to technical problems, only the new guy Esri getting in the air without a hitch! Therefore we arrived late but in good order over Dover, missing the rendevous with the first wave of bombers. We patrolled for a while at 6000+ m, then 2 more waves of bombers were reported and they were shortly after engaged by Tommy fighters. We dove down into the fray, I pulled out in a good position behind a Hurricane but my burst of mg's and cannon rounds missed. I zoomed back up, seperated from the Schwarm, but the sky was filled with bogies and I was busy fighting quite a while, with more opportunities to waste ammo. My gunnery was well below par today. After a prolonged fight with a bandit, I found myself alone mid channel. I soon spotted a bomber headed for France with a Tommy on his tail. As I dove towards them the bomber plunged toward the channel. I botched my attack, and the Hurricane broke and fled towards the White Ciffs. I gave chase with all the power my machine could muster and I gradually caught up. I noticed that I had only 3 rds per cannon left, I had to make my next burst count. The Hurricane grew large in my sight, I fired and this time I hit home. I pulled up and observed the venting Hurricane in a shallow dive over the coastline towards Deal and a parachute in it's wake. I turned my plane back to France, on the way I got involved in a skirmish with Spitfires and 109's off Cape Griz Nez, I took a little damage to the left wing, though nothing in comparison to the damage the aircraft took when I came down too heavily back at base. Not something too increase my popularity with the crew chief.

Took off with Coolhand, Mason, and Maple as Schwarm 1. Takeoff went well especially since we were rusty. Form up and climb went well. Picked up bombers and escorted into channel. Flew down the English coast at 5K as a schwarm with little activity. Came back out over the channel and located the bombers and enemy fighters. Stayed with Mason through several cycles of attack…. Confirm his kill on a Hurricane. Got separated from Mason and climbed towards the Port of Dover. Got engaged with several enemy and most of controls shot up. Could not maneuver well but put up a good fight for a while. Had to bail out, and of course, my chute did not open.

After reaching the coast of Dover with Chumleigh as my Rottenführer as well as Ritter and Druid we spotted Spitfires just below us along the coast. We dove down towards them and as we got closer we noticed a giant mass of airplanes swarming around. I witnessed Chumleigh and an unknown 109 score devastating hits on a Spitfire but was unable to see him bail or hit the ground. After this engagement I followed my Rottenführer as he made his way toward the bombers where we spotted another Spitfire, I scored significant hits and saw his water radiator spew white smoke and he headed back for England. Moments later, while coming to the aid of another 109, Chumleigh fired upon another Spitfire, crippling him. On his second pass the pilot of the Spitfire bailed out and his plane went into the Channel. We both landed safely at Marquise, with no damage (and both had pretty smooth landings )
