I flew as Katschmarek of HuffDuff in First Schwarm with the Gruppenkommandeur. After he spotted Hurricanes behind the Stukas we dived down. By this, I lost visual to my Rottenführer. After a time of looking around and radioing we met again. While getting to altitude we where bounced by enemy a/c and had to go to the deck. My motor lost water and shortly before the coast I had oil on my canopy. I could perform a no wheel landing on a field near Wissent and got help from nearby airfield.

Lost contact to my wingman while covering the Ju 87. Just when he rejoined I got hits in my radiator and hat to run for France.
Managed to bring my 109 back to Mariquise...

Chumleigh mate you're being very unlucky indeed. The RAF pilot who collided with you was Teepee from No.501. He did apologise to you in the chatline just after you left the server. He had to bail out from his Hurricane right away and responded to your message that he was sorry, but he was going too fast to avoid the collision.
Actually I am the one who owes an apology to Teepee as my frustrated reaction definitely appeared to be directed at him. It is the fact that virtually every time a hurricane collides with me, my plane is critically damaged or blown to pieces while the hurri ends up with far less damage or none whatsoever.

Collisions happen and I'm sure I cause just as many as anyone else. I've just grown rather weary of the predictable outcome.

Sorry, Teepee.

Thanks Robo and my apologies to Teepee as I am sure you know the real root of my frustration has to do with the outcome of the collision - not that one occurred. It's a part of air combat and I cause as many as as anyone else. I can't imagine any of the ACG boys ramming another AC intentionally and the way I was bouncing that 109 all over the place to avoid bullets, I know I was making it more difficult for the ones firing them to avoid me!

I hope Teepee didn't bail out just to respond to my message! I'm very sorry if he did.
Chumleigh - I was also part of the flurry of Hurricanes that attacked you. I managed to get on your tail as you chased the venting Hurricane down to the cliffs of Dover, and I managed to get a few bullets into your tailplane, but by heck you were dodging like mad! You extended back to the ships, but Teepee and I were working as a pair, and he took over from me as he had altitude and energy. It's very unfortunate that he collided, and he was as annoyed as you were - it's such a wasteful way of being removed from the game. If it's any consolation, Pitti PK'd me shortly after you'd disengaged yourself from me! It was a great fight whilst it lasted, thanks for giving me the runaround :D

Mission Date: 29th July 1940

Name: Dub
Rank:Hauptgefreiter
Unit: 5./JG26
Aircraft:Bf109 E-4
Markings:16
Aerodrome: Marquise East
Pilot Status: Floating in english channel
Aircraft Status: a little rusty at the bottom of the english channel

Went for take off with Grey and circled Marquis east airfield to wait for Madigan, Once we grouped up we headed to Cap Gris Nez and climbed up to ~4km, we made a right turn to just north of Calais roughly mid channel and met up with the bombers, we maintained altitude over the bombers. The first contact I saw was a hurricane so I dived down a few kilometres in front of the bombers roughly co alt with them maybe lower, I made a few boom and zoom passes on him east of Dover south of Deal (hells corner) but I don't remember getting any significant hits if any. After a few minutes of this I decided it was time to climb so went into a steep climb with full Wep and 2500RPM he tried to follow me and he went into a stall so then I knew I had a good chance of escaping, heading back mid channel to see if any other planes needed help because at this time I had been notified that both 5./JG26_Grey and 5./JG26_Madigan had been shot down.
As I was heading south at ~3km I saw a dog fight more or less what I thought was feet wet a few kilometres off of Cap Gris Nez, I caught a dog fight with a 109 and multiple spitfires, I went into this mess and the 109 passed in front of me followed by the spit so I made a burst of mg and 20mm and managed to hit the spit in the mid section, not sure what happened to him after that because I got a 6 and started diving, as I came out of the dive I climbed up and made a hammer head stall, the first spitfire passed me as I fired a burst and dispatched his pilot the second spitfire fired at me and collided into me as I reached the apex of my hammerhead, this resulted in me in a damaged 109 that was missing a wing and the spitfire falling to our deaths, so I parachuted out, and landed in the English channel.

The End

The 3 Staffels of JG26 formed around the airfield of Marquise east on a glorious summer day. Our Staffelkapitan proudly patrols in his 109 in front of our growling planes, waiting for the order to take off. Today we are escorting our fearless Stuka's to bomb whats left of Dover port.

We take off to a thunderous roar, the dust whipping up around us as we climb majestically into the blue skies. It is an excellent takeoff from the skilled pilots of our dedicated Jagdgeshwader. We rendevous over Calais and head out over the channel, our senses now on full alert. Our schwarm comprises our excellent leader Unteroffizier Flyby, flanked by the dependable Obergefrieter Lee. Crossing the channel, we are soon over Dover but no contact is made with the enemy. Flyby tries to dip down low to spot any contacts and unfortuatley Lee and I lose contact with him. Regardless, we come around and I spot the next wave of Stukas on their way to England. We are all near the bombers but unable to form up together as I spot a group of Spitfires diving on the Stukas.

I immediatley give chase and get on the tail of a Spit who sees me and pulls hard right. I give him a deflection burst of cannon and MG, he swings around and I wonder if I did any damage. Sticking to him closley and now back on his tail, I notice his right undercarrige is hanging down. I must have hit something..

So concentrated on the Spit in front of my sights, I forget the golden rule of checking my own six. The tommy bullets smashing into my 109 from behind, ram the message home. One bullet rips into my left shoulder and I struggle to keep control of my stricken aircraft. Somehow, I manage to release the canopy and hurl myself into the rushing air. I watch my 109 plummet in smoke to the sea below as my parachute jerks open painfully on my injured shoulder. I watch the intense battle in the skies all around me as I drift towards the waiting grey sea.

I must have passed out, as the next thing I remember was lying on rescue boat with a hairy sailor type person grinning down at me. The foul stench of the ointment on my wound was indeed unpleasant, but seemed to pass as the grizzly sailor returned to his station. Odd. Arriving back at Marquise is always a relief for the pilots, and today I have been lucky to make it at all.
But just like Helga told his old uncle Arnold in Austria.. "I'll be back.."

Aircraft: Bf 109E4
Markings: Black 5
Aerodrome: Marquise Ost
Status: Pilot ok, A/C in need of some repairs

Took off with Blau schwarm with Stig, StaryMruk and Grizzly.
We were jumped mid channel over the Stukas by RAF fighters and I tried to pull the 2xEA on my six away from Grizzly or at least to try to make them split up. Pushed nose down to dive away, while Grizzly engaged one of them (who broke off) but second one managed to hit my radiator and oil. Called out RTB to Stig and headed back to AF. Landed safely with motor still running.
Took more of my time and energy this flight, just to stay in formation, than scanning for the enemy :-(
Hope I can do better next time.

Chumleigh... check out this link for my viewpoint. I'd hit your wing and was following you when Teepee joined the fight. At the time I didn't know it was him but I had a perfect vantage point. Others have said you were dodging around a lot - but the truth is that I'm a shit shot ;). It was unlucky indeed.
