Part 1 - The Fall of France

Mission 1. 11th May 1940, 1100hrs
Last night after fierce fighting our army has thrown the enemy back and taken a vital crossroads at Calonne-Ricouart which is just to the south-west of your airfield of Merville Calonne. We are in the process of fortifying the position before continuing our advance however equipment is only just arriving and the troops are still vunerable.

Your mission is to protect the area from enemy attack. British bombers have been active each time we have advanced so far therefore we will be prepared and make them pay a price for their actions. Intelligence informs us that the RAF are operating their bombers from the south and from test

Mission 2. 15th May 1940, 1530hrs
Our forces have smashed the enemy from Amiens in the past few days and we advanced gracefully along the main roads to Abbeville flanking the Somme without incident. This morning we lost several vehicles and tanks upon approach to Abbeville where the British are dug in to high ground copses and farms with anti-tank weapons and tanks, this was a surprise to our intelligence.

This afternoon we will use our Stukas to smash the enemy from these positions and our forces will enter Abbeville overnight.

Your mission is to escort our Stuka forces to and from the enemy position. Rendezvous over Arras and keep them safe. Watch out, the RAF has been active of late.

Mission 3. 21st May 1940, 1330hrs
Von Brauchitsch's ground forces are unstoppable, the enemy is in rapid retreat and those still fighting are being mopped up. The Tommies are racing to the ports but the roads are difficult due to damaged vehicles and traitors fleeing with the English. You have orders to engage enemy in ground on the Abbeville~Boulogne road in order to slow the retreat, many are trapped south of Wailly Beaucamp by our air power. Secondary orders are to Destroy any RAF aircraft in the area.

We are based at Arras but with the advance are soon to move. Our engineers have been working on a new model of Messerschmidt which has higher power and is fitted with cannon. 3 of these aeroplanes have arrived for our unit. We also have acquire 4 heavy fighters of the model Bf-110-C4 which should make light work of the Tommies.

Mission 4. 24th May 1940, 0500hrs - The Battle for Calais
Boulogne is under attack by 2nd Panzer and we have the remaining northern Allies trapped in the ports of Calais and Dunkerque. Intelligence reported that the British had docked a fighting force to break out, including a heavy tank unit, and this was confirmed with fierce fighting over the past day. The Englander has lost half of his Crusaders fighting 1st Panzer before withdrawing and later in an attempt to bring in more supplies at Gravelines were overrun. Schaal, commanding the 10th Panzers, has requested the Luftwaffe soften up the perimeter in order to secure victory, he has been severely weakened by a week of fighting and RAF bomber attack.

Goering has ordered Stuka's to attack the Englander but the RAF currently have air superiority over the port. Fighter units are requested to escort the Stukas to the front lines and change the attitude of the British airmen.

II./JG26 are based at Arras airfield and equipped with the Bf109 E-1 fighter. There are 6 cannon armed Bf109 E-3 machines available for the Gruppe. Be aware that Dunkerque is within fighter range of English bases and the RAF has been sending in their new Spitfire fighter against us. Our first experience is that it is a faster and more agile machine than the Hurricane that you are used to fighting, you must be careful.

Mission 5. 1st June 1940. - Fall Gelb
Thanks to the efforts of the Luftwaffe we have achieved a mighty victory at Calais and now we march on into Dunkirk, the last fortress of the British. The Fuhrer has ordered our Panzer forces to halt so that the final victory can be won from the air by our Luftwaffe, truly an honour.

We are still based at Arras where we will provide protection and support for our bomber units who will be attacking Dunkerque harbour and beaches from the south east In the past week several more cannon armed machines have arrived and are ready to be unleashed on the enemy. 10 of the fighters are now E-3 models.

Be aware that Dunkerque is within fighter range of English bases and we have been seeing the Spitfire in greater numbers on this front. Our first experience is that it is a faster and more agile machine than the Hurricane that you are used to fighting, you must be careful.

Mission 6. 12th June 1940, 1310hrs - Fall Rot
The British have retreated to England, Winston Churchill is claiming a success that over 300,000 soldiers were rescued but this is of course propaganada. Von Bock is heading south and the remaining British must be mopped up on our way to victory for as soon as Paris falls France will certainly follow. We will then deal with the British.

Last week II Gruppe of JG26 were moved forwards to support the southern war effort from Arras to a more modest facility at Abbeville. The Tommies are attempting to escape from Le Harve and so our great leader Goering has ordered the port be bombed to cause much damage to the Royal Navy. Yesterday HMS Bruges was successfully sunk, the RAF was nowhere to be seen so we will do this again today. Rendezvous with the bomber force over Abbeville and escort them to the target and home.

You are equipped with the Bf109E-1 fighter. 10 models of cannon armed E-3 are available today.

Part 2 - Kanalkampf

Mission 7. 10th July 1940, 1350hrs
France is ours and only Great Britain remains in our way of total victory. The British are cut off on their little island and we will blockade them like they did to us in the Great War 30 years ago. Freya has detected a British convoy heading through the Kanal and our stuka's are being prepared for an attack.

II./JG26 will provide cover from the base at Abbeville.

Mission 8. 14th July 1940, 1500hrs
II./JG26 have been moved to the new facilities at Marquise where you will be based in the campaign to destroy the RAF. The British convoy has been dealt blows and the RAF are trying to protect it. This is a great way to draw out the enemy fighters and destroy the air protection that they can offer for our invasion.

Our bomber force will rendezvous east of Calais and from there head to the enemy. Escort them and attack the enemy at will.

Mission 09. Thursday, 18th of July 1940, 1830hrs
Evening Patrol: The invasion plans have stepped up and we have noticed the recon flights and mine laying missions in the Kanal. We must still draw out the RAF fighters in order to gain the upper hand. Patrol the Pas De Calais and stay clear of the English coast. We will aim to draw the Englanders into the skies and knock them down. Your patrol zone is the straight between the Dungeness peninsula to Boulogne in the west and then Deal to Dunkerque in the east. Patrol between 3000m and 5000m, I repeat, stay well clear of the British coast.

Horrido!

Mission 10. Friday, 19th of July 1940, 1320hrs
It is afternoon at Marquise and II./JG26 have not just received orders to take up a patrol through the Kanal, but not over enemy territory, as a protective Freie Jagd for multiple small raids against British targets. Seek out and destroy any enemy you encounter. Stay clear of British landfall today.

Mission 11. Saturday, 20th of July 1940, 1330hrs

As long as the British are sending convoys through the Kanal we wil continue to use them as a means to draw out the RAF fighters. Yesterday was a major success for our brothers in JG51 who slaughtered the British 'Defiant' fighter squadrons. At this rate the British will have lost all their pilots and machines along with their resolve, then the invasion can begin.

We have been tracking a convoy for the past few days and it is now heading north into the North Sea. Ju87's have been ordered to attack and II./JG26 must escort and await the enemy fighters. Destroy them at will. Your rendezvous point will be over Oye-Plage at 1345hrs.

Horrido!

Mission 12. Wednesday, 24th of July 1940, 1045hrs

The British have started to divert their convoys via the north but we can still make interceptions in the Thames estuary. Another British convoy has been spotted in the North Sea and is heading toward London. Our Dorniers are being prepared and on their way to make an attack. You duty is close escort and to destroy the Tommy fighters. Rendezvous over Dunkirk and head to England.

Horrido!

Mission 13. Thursday, 25th of July 1940, 1140hrs

Weather:
4/10th cloud
light south-south-westerley

Goering has personally assured the Luftwaffe that the tactic of attacking British shipping is causing great shortages and that the RAF is losing more men and machines than they can replace. Today we give them and onslaught all day to stretch their defences as our bomber forces will strike the deepwater port of Dover and all shipping within range. This is an all day fight and II./JG26 are to take the hunt and escort from noon today. Patrol the area over Dover and the Dover straights. Hunt Tommy down and knock him into the Kanal.

Horrido!

Mission 15. Sunday 28th July , early afternoon.

Weather:
4/10th cloud
light south-westerley

Today gentlemen our bombers will be raining our bombs onto the port town of Dover rendering it useless to the British. Over 40 bombers in 2 close proximity waves will attack escorted by heavy fighters and II Gruppe of JG26.

Rendezvous with our Heinkel force at 4000m over Calais at 1330hrs

This mission is an escort. All fighters must be in close contact with the bomber forces, no advanced fighter sweeps. This tactic will force the RAF to fight us fairly where we will demonstrate the superiority of the Luftwaffe.

Horrido!

Mission 16. Monday, 29th of July 1940, 0700hrs

Weather:
4/10th cloud
light south-south-westerley

Goering was delighted at the recent strikes on Dover and today we will render this port unusable with a large force of Ju87 dive bombers targeting the port facilities and naval craft. You will rendezvous with the bomber force over Calais and provide fighter protection. The Tommies will surely come for them, be ready to knock them down.

Horrido!

Mission 17. Monday 5th August, early in the morning.

Weather:
4/10th cloud
light south-westerley

We have news that the Englander navy has withdrawn from Dover, evidence that they are buckling and soon they will not be able to protect themselves from our armies. Today the target is Dover once more. 40 bombers, the updated Heinkel types, will attack escorted by heavy fighters and II Gruppe of JG26.

Rendezvous with our Heinkel force at 4000m over Marquise at 0820hrs

This mission is an escort. All fighters must be in close contact with the bomber forces, no advanced fighter sweeps. Bomber command has been complaining that the fighters leave them to deal with the RAF alone so please maintain good height over the fleet but do not leave their sight.

Horrido!

Mission 18. Thursday, 8th of August 1940, 1600hrs

Weather:
2/10th cloud
10kmph knots Southerly

The British have not been sending convoys through the kanal in the past 2 weeks, this is probably because we are destroying their supplies with increasing confidence. Kesselring has ordered a new plan to attack the British airfields directly however this is postponed because a large convoy was detected yesterday and has already been attacked twice this morning.

The day is not done for the Royal Navy as yet another strike is on the way. Escort the bomber forces and patrol the convoy in order to hunt down the RAF. Your rendevous is 3000m over Cherbourg.

Horrido!
