Hei fellow simmers,
I thought to start a thread where we can share settings for FS2020 VR. I had a flight yesterday and experimented a bit with the render scale. The sweet spot for me was at 70%. I got stable and smooth 30 fps. That was in the Cessna 152. using a higher render scale caused some jittering, not much and definitely playable. With 70% it was smooth all the way and very enjoyable. My graphic settings are similar to what was suggested in this video:

I'll continue to tweak a bit and post here.

Re: FS2020 VR settings thread
Good idea Thaine. I'll be interested in this and will add what I hope can be useful information for others as I experiment with settings for VR use. This week I added another 16GB RAM to my existing 16. It has made a significant improvement for DCS but I am yet to get the settings tuned for MSFS so will report back on its effect in MSFS. I'll also add my rig details to my sig as they are relevant for this sort of thread.

Re: FS2020 VR settings thread
I’m not. Will that help Ginger? Edit: Looks like Valve still need to support it.

Re: FS2020 VR settings thread
It helps MSFS2020 , don't think it does much for BoS, DSC from what i can tell.

Re: FS2020 VR settings thread
Now that I was able to get my hands on an RTX 3070 MSFS is now viable for me. I’m actually finding the aircraft makes a noticeable difference to the FPS on the same settings. For instance the MilViz Corsair is my best performing aircraft in that regard, which is a surprise given the complexity of the modelling. The newly released PMDG DC-6 is harder on the system but I’m still getting a smooth experience. Fantastic level of detail. It’s my first four engined aircraft and is a great experience for me, being a bomber boy. Another good performer is the little Ryan ST-A. The worse performing aftermarket aircraft I have is the Aermacchi, which is a shame.
After a fair bit of experimenting my current settings give me between 40-45 fps for the above aircraft apart from the Aermacchi (and I’m still experimenting using fpsVR as a guide):
Steam VR 90hz mostly but it is easy to switch to 80hz or 120hz.
Resolution per eye 100%
Motion smoothing off.
In game:
Render scaling 100%
Anti-aliasing TAA
Terrain level of detail 100%
Terrain vector data High
Buildings High
Trees High
Grass and bushes Low
Object level of detail 100%
Volumetric clouds Medium at the moment but pushing up and experimenting
Texture resolution High
Anisotropic filtering 2X
Texture Supersampling Off
Texture Synthesis Low
Water waves Medium
Shadow maps 768
Terrain shadows 128
Contact shadows Low
Windshield effects Medium
Ambient occlusion Off
Reflections Ultra
Light shafts Low
Bloom Off
Class cockpit refresh rate Low
Steam VR 90hz mostly but it is easy to switch to 80hz or 120hz.
Resolution per eye 100%
Motion smoothing off.
I think what are acceptable FPSs is very subjective but for non combat flying I think 40-45 FPS is great and allows me to bump up the eye candy, which in MSFS is substantial.
