Re: A-10C
I'm caught between a rock and a hard place with the A-10. On one hand, I really want to learn a fully modelled modern DCS, yet I know that it will require months (For me it will) to become proficient and by that time I am afraid something pointy nosed have stolen my attention... It's an awesome airframe but it lacks the sexyness of the pointonosers. And I love me some sexyness. Let me know how it goes and if you should ever require some F-15 escort:)

Damn you Javelina,
you have now given me homework to study
you have now given me homework to study
Re: A-10C
@Redeye - Honestly mate it won't take months. Maybe do a little background reading on how a modern jet works with regards to engines and systems, and that terrifying cockpit will suddenly feel very straightforward. Seriously, I don't even have a memorized procedure for starting the A10 - I just know roughly how the plane works and therefore the switch-flicking just comes down to common sense. Plane needs to be switched on? Better turn on the battery. Need to startup the engines? Better start the APU and the bleed air. Engines started? APU goes off. Taxiing? Nose steering on. Takeoff? Yaw Damper. etc. etc. etc.
Admittedly my experience with airliners and IFR navigation in general gives me a slight advantage since the A10 probably has more in common with a Boeing 737 than a Spitfire, but trust me when I say that if I of all people can learn this shit anybody can.

Re: A-10C
What Dave said plus the training missions where the switch that has to be clicked is highlighted just guid you through the most common procedures from startup to guided bombs employment. Personally that helped me a lot. After I did all of them I was able to just mess around and things like jtac interactions or similar aren't that hard anymore either
Turn like the devil, shoot straight from the sun
Climb like a monkey out of hell where I belong
Re: A-10C
Yeah, fair enough. Although I am semi-familiar with modern terminology and tactics of fast movers from the F-15 and partially the Su-27, I am still pretty fresh to everything else. I have mastered cold start now, so at least thats something:)
