DCS: Normandy+ WW2 asset pack preorder

Here is the link for the BUNDLE:

Here is the trailer (in HD 60 fps)

Screensshot of the WW2 Asset pack (More units will be added free of charge after the you purchase the original, including BF 109 G6 and Fw 109 A8's as well as more allied bombers, Hawker Typhoon etc. Note that all the units are AI, and not flyable- though the vehicles may be driveable in time)

There is a lot of confusion to some of this content:

You can buy the both the Normandy map and the WW2 asset pack as a bundle at a reduced price. (The WW2 asset pack includes numerous ww2 AI units such as ground vehicles, equipment, fighter and bombers, AAA etc.)

-OR, for whatever reason, you can buy just the map or just the Asset pack. (Why anyone would I don't know). But if you build a mission, using either the map AND/OR the asset pack, the players joining your server must own the same products.

Some think you have to pay for DCS 2 and the map, which is not the case. You pay for the modules (aircraft) and the maps that you use.

The map will FIRST be available in DCS open alpha (The 2.x branch). At the moment, you MUST own the Nevada map to use DCS 2.0. That will however change when Normandy is released. YOU DO NOT PAY FOR DCS IN ITSELF. You pay for the modules you PLUG INTO DCS.

For me, its the biggest no brainer since buying Il2 1946. This will be the first step in the future of WW2 high fidelity simulator combat, and it arrives in late May 2017. (It was APRIL yesterday though..)

Finally- stay clear of the Steam version. Everything arrives weeks/months later on steam. Standalone works better in every way. If you MUST have all you games in steam, get the Standalone and set it up through steam using "Non Steam Game". That way all games will remain fresh, but your DCS will be fresh and up to date without the frustration of waiting for steam releases (DCS takes long enough as it is for gods sake!)

Hope to see as many of you in the skies as possible:)

I just pre ordered this too. I don't know if that was wise but I can't wait to fly over that scenery in my mustang. The content is pretty minimal but if I really love this sim. Cliffs is great too but looking forward to this immensely.

hmmm, your Pony vs my Dora over Normandy? Of course the Dora didn't appear until nearly 6 months later, but still... :B:

I purchased it as well. I think and hope that this map will boost my interest in DCS and rid me of this awkward feeling of flying warbirds over modern Caucasus.

I hear you Thaine. Preordered as well. The feeling of flight and systems management in DCS is unrivalled. I have spent weeks trying to manage the Spit IX to a level where I can fly it more or less safely. However, when airborne, I am saddened that everything I see around me tears me out of the WW2 experience. I think it is safe to say that this will be a thing of the past with the new map, and that we will enter the most excellent version of desktop flying of 40's warbirds.

Sure- we still have to wait for the damage model and multiplayer stability to catch up, but DCS is user friendly in the fact that it is very easy to set up functioning single player session, not to mention hosting COOP mission with smaller groups. I cannot describe how much I have longed for escorting B-17's on bombing raids over Rouen, to fly low level anti ship attacks over Cherbourg, and dive bomb "no-ball" (V1-launch sites) targets in my Spitfire. Even though the massive ACG move-over might be some time away, quality entertainment together with ACG comrades is not:)

Thaine and Redeye, I share your sentiments. I've not spent much time with any of the DCS planes I bought. While the jets seem to have a more relevant conflict map, as do other parts of DCS World, those have not grabbed me from Cliffs. In DCS the WWii planes are currently "homeless" in my opinion, so pre-purchasing the bundle was just me eagerly doing my bit to show my support for the time period. I've spent years in the time-genre, having found it most desirable among other aerial combat periods. I would like to see a turn to the Vietnam air war, with a route-pack 6 theme. Or even a recreation of a Rowan's Korean air war. But for now I await the Normandy map and the assumed expansion of that map eastward towards Berlin. As a pilot flying in II_JG26, the tactical airwar of the west becomes quite gritty as the war proceeds.
so, CHEERS!
