Re: WIP Spitfire IX 1/72
Weekly update
I filled the gaps with putty
and sanded ...
sanded again... it's a borring but unavoidable task.
For a perfect result I use Mr surfacer after putty
And of course sanding one more time with the finest sand paper I have, grade 1000 and 2000
Then I readyed my srcibing tools
And started rescribe the panel lines wich were errased by the sanding operation
re engrave the rivets
The best way to control your work is to look at the model with light in front of you. It makes the model shining and as you can see the surface, the panel lines and rivets are nearly perfect
That's all for this week

Every time I think of building a model, I look at the artistry of the people here, and I just give up the notion. Beautiful stuff, Secu

Re: WIP Spitfire IX 1/72
You roll on the rivets??? That is some impressive stuff!
Re: WIP Spitfire IX 1/72
Only those that were erased by the putty/sanding operation, not all you see in the picture, 95% are form the original mould. You roll on the rivets???
Re: WIP Spitfire IX 1/72
Nice work Secu. Surely re-scribing is worse than sanding though?

Hy
Just some pictures, I was in hollyday and only worked a little on the Spit
Today she looks like this :
PE radiators, verry nice details
Now I'm building the "little things wich take long times"
And drilled little holes...

The advantage in mastering rescribing is that you haven't to worry about filling gap and sanding. You can rebuild everything you erase with your sandpaper (or nearly everything, I'm not so gifted...)Surely re-scribing is worse than sanding though?
Re: WIP Spitfire IX 1/72
A little bit of work today, let's go for the prop
First primer
Then yellow
masking yellow
After dark grey with lighter grey on the leading edge
Maskol pathches done with sponge
spray a black thin layer
Removed the maskol, the effect is a little bit overdone
Another thin coat of black to tone down the effect.
masking again
Sky colour, with preshading, or prelightning depends of your point of view
Done
That's all for today, I have to weather and give a more operational aspect to the prop but later.
