How do I join an Org?

Only users who are backers or have a game package can become part of an Organisation.

There’s actually two ways to join an Organisation: either by applying through the group’s page, or by invitation from the group itself.

If you find a group you’re interested in joining, you can fill out an application in their Recruitment section, which will then be reviewed by the leadership. If they like you, you’re in! (Organizations can enable or disable public recruiting - I have public recruiting switched off.)

If you’re the kind of group that wants to actively recruit, you can invite members directly. In that case, the user would receive a request that they would need to approve in order to join the organization. Keep in in mind that while players can come and go as they please, they can join only one organization at a time (for now).

ACG Group Page: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/ACGROUP (click on the "join us now" page). If you are using a different handle to the one you use in ACG let us know, so we know who you are). For now, the Group is just for like minded ACG SC players.

BoredGamer's take on the recent GamesCon reveals.

The SC Forums seem to be full of the usual Patch Whiners, demanding 3.0 NOW! I can understand why Devs don't get involved in forum "chit-chat", as they probably make you want to pimp slap some of the posters.

So what stage are they actually at with this game? I've watched lots of very cool-looking pre-rendered adverts, and a lot of gameplay vids showing "this what it will be like to play it when patch X comes out", but I have no idea what is actually in the game right now. Obviously I could try to look it up, but since you seem to know what's going on Nails I thought I might get a more reliable answer from you :D

Also, does it look like the not-so-micro micro-payments system will continue into the actual game, or is it just to raise money during development? I ask because I've no interest in joining a game that requires buying new ships for hundreds of pounds in order to be competitive...

I must go up to the skies again, to the peace of silent flight, To the gull’s way, and the hawk’s way, and the free wings’ delight;
And all I ask is a friendly joke with a laughing fellow rover, And a large beer, and a deep sleep, when the long flight’s over.

Morning Broady.

The game as it stands is centred on 1 x Main Space Station (Olisar). From here you select your ship(s), and via your Mobiglass select a mission(s).

The missions are repair this or that array (usually means you navigating to it, leaving your ship (EVA), doing whatever needs doing). You will either meet some other RL citizens (who want to kill you), or AI (pirates, that want to kill you). There are other missions (dig up info on someone/something at a derelict space station) but that's about the gist of it until we get some meat on the bones (i.e. 3.0). You get some griefers here too. Ramming you, or ramming their spaceship on to the landing platforms. I've not seen this myself, but I have read too many incidents for it not to be happening.

Another space station is located in an asteroid belt called Grim Hex. I've never visited, as it is full of scallies wanting to take your stuff. The bar is full of ne'er do wells, who say things like "He doesn't like you. I don't like you either". You get the picture.

When you have done a few of these missions, they become samey/boring. A lot of serious players have done them over and over, have now left, and will come back when 3.0 drops.

You can co-ordinate via TeamSpeak. I think someone requested an SC Channel on our TS Server?

The funding will continue, which goes towards development (and Business Class for Chris Roberts)! However, you can earn credits in game, and buy your ship(s) by completing tasks, or buying selling or missions (a bit like the Elite Dangerous). Around space stations weapons are tight. I don't know what the mechanics are people who intentionally join to either shoot at random players going about their business, or ram other ships.

I will be buying a Carrack with a full NPC crew, and go out into the black exploring so I don't have to put up with bell ends. I did this in ED and am still in the black 18 months later.

You can also play Arena Commander. Either against AI or go up against other pilots.

You can also play Star Marine. FPS capture the flag kind of thing. Bit of a cheating frag-fest at the moment if you ask me. I don't bother with this, but might do if some AGC members were teaming up.

When you purchased a ship (cheap and cheerful will do) you also get a hanger to stow it in. You can look around your ship, and even get onboard. But you can't fly it out yet.

The ACGROUP on the SC website, was just to give us a presence. If you want to go and bounty hunt, or stir up a pirates nest, you can see who is around and arrange a get together.

The SC Website has a lot of info on it. So much so, new players get overwhelmed. According to Bored Gamer (watch his vids for a better understanding of the game), there will be quite a comprehensive new joiner guide as part of the game.

Everyone wants 3.0. But just like TF4.5/5.0 we have to wait.

Here is a vid from last years GamesCom that sort of took you through start to get mission to finish. This is the kind of thing they are aiming for in 3.0.

Flying a Carrack, Nails? Well you can count on me for some escort or some Herald support if you'd like. Also, if anyone wants to try out some of the various fighters or a Retaliator, let me know. I'll gladly spawn one for you. I don't have a Sabre or F7C though (but I do have a Super Hornet).

Hope to fly with you gents in the black.

Very gracious of you Miek. Thank you.

In return, the scientific data would be available to you. As will the use of the ships Sickbay (if needed).

Wonderful! The sickbay will be useful since I seem to have a similar sickness in SC that I have in Cliffs. It's a strange condition that makes whatever I'm riding in explode or fall to pieces beneath me. Doctors are stumped.
