Post by Trubshaw » Fri Jan 17, 2020 5:01 pm

If so have you any tips for me?
My current resolution is 5760x1080 and my biggest issues are spotting other a/c and the enormous amount of screen that is the sun and its glare.....

how do you cope?

Im using just a single 27" screen at 2560x1440p so I don't know how your screens display stuff, but my tips for spotting go like this:

-regarding spotting aircraft (which is by far the my biggest weakness when flying), every game displays planes differently. 50% of success is knowing what to look for, and that just comes with practice. If you want to practice by yourself, you can just go into a single mission and simply look for stuff. You'll get better as time goes by for sure, but best is to just make friends with someone who can spot well and fly with them. That's what I do. Can't see shit by myself, so I just tag along with people who then point me to people who need killing.

-sun glare is a pain in the ass, as it is IRL. If somebody's in the sun chances of seeing them are minute, so best to be in the sun yourself.

I know it's just a bunch of banals but they're true really, and a matter of getting used to.

I run 3-27's using Nvidia (1080Ti) Surround and to me the spotting is similar to using a single 27. What I found is with a single the entire monitor is in your main cone of vision so you notice things quicker. With the 3 monitors I have to move my head much more to look for contacts over my wing. The classic "head on a swivel" that you read about so much.

But bottom line I don't think the actual aircraft are harder to spot, you just need to look around more.

Cheers Trystan...what resolution do you use? I have noticed that if you reduce the resolution in game from 5760x1080 to a lower resolution the graphics are worse but spotting is better...
