Well it seems like HSFX 7 is the one most people are going to go with for this, so I'm going to set up a seperate installation for it. CUP is hands down better in my opinion but that's completely irrelevant if people can't even get it installed.

Don't think you need seperate install mate- I think it they just stand by side in the main install and are selected by selector at startup. They don't interfere as far as I know. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't want to chance it, and I've got the spare HDD space, so I might as well do it this way. Won't take more than half an hour to redownload from steam anyway. I'll just rename the folder of my CUP installation and it'll stay intact.

Will that work with steam? I tried two installs once, but seem to remember something about it not working out well. Let me know how it goes.

Should be fine. I've already done it with other games like Oblivion. You rename the folder to something like "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 - CUP version", then delete the game in steam. It leaves your folder totally intact and it allows you to download a fresh install from steam.

The amount of content in this is simply staggering.

Also- Il2 1946 fully modded looks good visually. And in terms of content, things to do, make and have fun with- there simply is nothing that even comes close. In single player experiences- it towers above all others.

Have a look.

Redeye, How do I get there from here? I have two versions of IL2-46 on my PC. One is the unmodded 4.12, and the other is the HSFX-version 7.03. How and where do I use SAS's mod?
thanks,

Not quite sure what you are asking.

The majority of ACG seems to gravitate towards HSFX- as you have installed yourself. I don't know what the latest version is.

"The Full Monty" which I mentioned in the post you are quoting has been superseeded by "C.U.P"

CUP has greater content, but has a lenghty download/install process which need to be followed to the letter, while HSFX I believe has an autoupdater.

Choose the version that meet your needs. Each variant has plenty of documentation and FAQ over at the SAS forum.

Redeye I have it all sorted out. I needed, and had an unmodded copy of IL2-'46 on my system. I have another on my backup drive. So I am now downloading the UP3 installer and will place it in a clean updated copy of 46. Had to do a bit of unlazy work. A huge 6.3gb download. I also have a separate copy of 46-HSFX. I think this new mod will the old girl's legs a good workout.
